**Job Overview:**The Program Officer, Community Sponsorship for Preferred Communities will lead IRC’s work in collaborating with field offices, clients, and community members to execute a cohesive community sponsorship program within the IRC network. The Program Officer will report to the Senior Program Officer, Community Sponsorship and work closely with the members of the resettlement team. The Program Officer will collaborate with public and private stakeholders, with an emphasis on Ukrainian communities, to grow IRC’s community sponsorship programming.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support IRC field offices in developing and building community sponsorship programming with emphasis on Ukrainian communities across the country.
  • Implement sponsorship design in accordance with general best practices and donor requirements and through engagement with the broader sponsorship ecosystem.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to the IRC’s network and external partners
  • Develop technical assistance, training materials, and program guidance as related to community sponsorship for implementation across IRC offices and community programs.
  • Conceptualize and oversee the development of community sponsorship training materials, with a particular focus on the Ukrainian diaspora in the US, for IRC staff, community sponsors, and IRC clients
  • Conduct outreach and liaise with IRC field offices, resettlement agencies, the private sector, and other stakeholders on community sponsorship implementation.
  • Monitor, support, and advocate for sustainable levels of financial and in-kind contributions required of sponsors;
  • Ensure early identification of risks affecting the implementation of community sponsorship and propose solutions based on the national context;
  • Support the design, implementation, and evolution of high-quality programming by collecting and reviewing data as well as drafting donor progress reports;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Experience in managing community sponsorship, private sponsorship, and/or co-sponsorship in a resettlement context preferred.
  • Combination of education and experience normally represented by a bachelor’s degree in social work or human service field
  • Minimum of four years of related, progressively responsible professional experience
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with a diverse range of clients in a non-profit setting; previous experience working with refugees preferred
  • Experience in project or program management, including experience meeting deadlines, maintaining case files, and completing timely reporting
  • Comfort establishing relationships and collaborating with national organizations and businesses
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that is multi-cultural and multi-lingual; experience using interpreters desired
  • Highly effective communication skills, demonstrating strong partnership skills, emotional intelligence, and situational awareness
  • Highly adaptable and flexible self-starter with ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others, juggle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in English; written and spoken
