About The Role

The main responsibilities are to assist the Play and Leisure Coordinator to organise and deliver the KIDS Summer Activity Programme 2022 for children and young people age 8-18 with special educational needs and or disabilities during the six week summer holidays. As assistant coordinator you will train sessional play workers to support the delivery of the programme.

The Summer Assistant role is full time and hours are generally be between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. However, to meet the needs of the programme some flexibility will be required for example an earlier or later finish as well as possible extra hours on some days.

This forms part of the short breaks provision for families with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities aged 8 – 18 years of age residing in Hull. Activities include Bowling, Swimming, Arts/Crafts/Drama, Nature Trails, Big Fun, Tigers Trust Sports, Sensory Clinic, Play at Priory and Acorns Children’s Centres, Humber Llamas, Welton Waters, Bushcraft Days, Desholme Farm Visits.

This post can offer flexibility in hours/days up to July but will require full time commitment over Summer holidays when the activity programme is running.

This role is from April to September

The hourly rate is £9.73 per hour plus you accrue an extra £1.17 per hour holiday pay.

To be able to carry out this role it is essential that you have the following characteristics:

  • Experience of working with families who have children with disabilities or SEN.
  • Excellent networking and negotiation skills.
  • A wide knowledge of present play and leisure provision for children with disabilities and their families.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, email and internet.
