Introduction

Mercy Hands owns a charity medical center in Baghdad, named Mercy Hands Charity Medical Center, operated and managed by Mercy Hands’ affiliate, Iraqi Telemedicine Center.

Situated in Al Sadir City (map), one of Baghdad’s most densely populated and economically challenged suburbs, the medical center is housed in a compact building with a layout featuring a basement laboratory, a ground level hosting a common waiting area, registration, diagnostics station, and nursing station, and two identical upper levels with waiting rooms and two physician rooms each.

The medical center offers a diverse range of medical services, including nursing, physician services in various specialties, laboratory services, and diagnostics such as ultrasound and ECG.

The medical center is seeking to recruit expat physicians to improve its capabilities and overall effectiveness. The center is seeking to recruit individuals who possess unique skills, experiences, and specialized medical knowledge. Additionally, the center is interested in candidates who can bring global perspectives and best practices acquired from their experiences in other healthcare systems. The goal is to enhance the medical center’s effectiveness and implement innovative approaches to patient care. Furthermore, the center is looking for expat physicians with research expertise to contribute to its research initiatives, collaborate with international institutions, and enhance the center’s reputation.

Recruiting Arrangement

Recruitment arrangements vary based on experience, with recent graduates recruited as interns and experienced or specialized physicians as employees. There are currently three open positions with wages set at $750 per month for intern physicians and $1500 per month for employee physicians.

Fringe Benefits

Mercy Hands covers various costs for expat physicians, including residence and utilities, visa and residency fees, work-related taxes in Iraq, health insurance, and transportation between residence and the medical center. Non-Arabic speaking expat physicians will have access to a translator, and Mercy Hands will organize a tourist program to explore historic sites and landmarks in Baghdad.

Requirement

  • Applicants must be graduates of a credentialed college of medicine.
  • Arabic language is a plus but at minimum the physician must have good command of English.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a healthcare team.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday, from 3 pm to 9 pm.

Duties

The Expat Physician is responsible for providing medical care to patients with acute or chronic illnesses or injuries. Their duties include diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical conditions, conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and performing minor medical/ surgical procedures.
