Are you a senor fundraiser and skilled relationship manager ready to play a lead role in transforming our Philanthropy fundraising as we deliver our ambitious strategy to help people in crisis?

The British Red Cross is re-shaping and growing fundraising from major donors and trusts & foundations at a time when our work with people in crisis has never been more relevant or needed. From the Covid crisis in the UK to war in Ukraine, we work in partnership with major philanthropists to respond during a crisis.

At this crucial and exciting time, we’re looking for a fantastic senior philanthropy fundraiser to take on this critical role of Philanthropy Lead – Major Giving. This is a rare senior role that is focussed entirely on relationship management and working with donors rather than line management and internal activity.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for building deep lasting relationships with the UK’s most significant philanthropists, including individuals, families, trusts & foundations, who have the potential to give donations of £100k+ to the British Red Cross. The role has a strong new business focus and will also lead our innovation into new audiences and products.

We’re looking for someone who’s skilful and confident in high level relationship management and can bring creativity and innovation to new business.

About the team

The Philanthropy department consists of the Major Giving team, the Transformational Giving team and the Stewardship & Operations team. The department is responsible for delivering BRC’s philanthropy strategy and leads on relationships with all philanthropy donors giving £5k+. Following a recent restructure, this directorate has increased investment and focus to realise ambitious growth in income over the next three years.

The role might be for you if

You have extensive experience of developing strong relationships with major philanthropy donors and providing excellence in donor stewardship.

You have demonstrable success in securing major gifts from philanthropy donors, (both individuals and trust & foundations), including personally raising 100k gifts.

You have strong internal stakeholder management skills.

You have strong new business skills and a resilient approach to ambitious targets.
