Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC) is looking for an experienced Pharmacy Supply Chain Specialist (PSCS) to join our Programs and Projects (P&PD) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating closely with the International Health Unit (IHU) at Samaritan’s Purse International Headquarters. The PSCS serves as a technical expert in medical supply chain, including sourcing, supplier relationship management, inventory management and control, and the expiry management of pre-staged inventories. The successful candidate will support Emergency Medical Responses at times through monitoring and analyzing burn rates and working with the IHU on resupply. They will also be involved in the development and coordination of a worldwide medical supply chain (pharmaceutical) and deliver medical logistics training for the international Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART). As an integral member of the P&PD department, this role will help SPC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily devotions and prayer ministry. This is a full-time permanent position in the Calgary head office. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the IHQ Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Supply Chain Specialist in the execution of effective EMR program systems
  • Manage the pharmaceutical supplies as part of the SP Canada pharmacy program
  • Coordinate the legal and governmental requirements for obtaining, utilizing and distributing pharmaceutical supplies within Canada
  • Support the EMR Supply Chain Specialist with EFH Medical Logs & Pharmacist trainings for DART members
  • Support the EMR Supply Chain Specialist as needed during a deployment by helping to manage supply chain monitoring tools for medical programs and responses
  • Provide extensive data analysis and forecasting, working closely with the EMR med logs and pharmacist to monitor supply levels, analyze inventory consumption and initiating the resupply process for consumables, lab and pharmacy as needed
  • Work closely with the Logistics & Warehouse Coordinator to ensure proper storage and transportation of materials
  • Assist with loading cargo at time of response on an as needed basis
  • Collaborate as part of the International Disaster Response team to advance the vision and capacities of SPC in disaster relief activities

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants should be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with the Samaritan’s Purse Statement of Faith
  • Postgraduate degree in applicable pharmaceutical field required
  • Minimum 5 years of field experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of medical background experience
  • Above average communication and interpersonal skills, focused on training, peacemaking, kindness, leadership, and duty of care
  • Thorough knowledge of supply chain operations including procurement, forecasting, inventory systems and management, supplier development
  • Strong attention to details through extensive data analysis
  • Ability to coach and mentor others with an emphasis on remote team members
  • Demonstrated skills in training
  • Ability to provide management in a low resource or crisis setting
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and problem solve under pressure
  • Ability to work with multiple departments during disaster responses to ensure that shipments are packed accurately considering all requests
  • Ability to take initiative and meet tight deadlines
  • Willing to travel internationally

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid passport and freedom to travel internationally with no restrictions
  • Certified in Emergency First Aid
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Criminal Background Check with a Vulnerable Sector
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Be able to maintain long work hours while traveling
