Description:
The pharmacy summer student position is a casual position created to expose University students to working in a hospital pharmacy. Each pharmacy student will perform tasks in at least one of these areas: Patient Care – students will spend time with a Pharmacist providing direct patient care. Projects – each student will participate in one or more projects. These may involve data/literature collection and reviews, suggesting new procedures/tools and assisting in creating them. Many of these projects will benefit Central Zone on a regional basis. Drug Distribution – students may have the opportunity to observe drug distribution functions.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of at least one year of training in a formal Pharmacy degree program. Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills desired. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision making ability desired. Displays tact, courtesy, discretion and respects confidentiality. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, cooperative, able to demonstrate effective service attitude, self-motivated. Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Professional Affiliation – Alberta College of Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications:
Some exposure to hospitals and hospital pharmacy could be a benefit. Familiarity with word processing and pharmacy computer software an asset.
