The USAID-funded Clean Cities Blue Ocean project in the USA, implemented by Tetra Tech International Development (www.tetratech.com/intdev) is currently accepting expressions of interest for a CCBO Peru Field Coordinator for Máncora. This position will be located in Máncora, Department of Piura, Perú.

The CCBO activity is a five-year initiative of USAID which will serve as USAID’s flagship program to target ocean plastics directly at their source in cities and towns. The project works to prevent ocean plastic pollution by building capacity and commitment for Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling (3Rs) and solid waste management (SWM) in urban and peri-urban settings, particularly in riverine and coastal areas. CCBO works with multiple USAID missions on country-specific implementation of national and local activities, and with USAID/Washington on global-level activities.

CCBO Peru´s Field Point of Contact. He/she will be responsible for providing technical assistance, training, and accompaniment to local government designated staff, Ministry of Production´s Regional Directorates (DIREPRO), Social Organizations of Artisanal Fishermen (OSPA), as well as public and private actors, to improve the local solid waste management and recycling (SWM/R) system in accordance with CCBO Peru objectives.

Responsibilities:

* Provide technical assistance to local government, DIREPRO, and OSPA, promoting the 3Rs and strengthening markets for recycling and reuse.

* Promote, accompany and monitor compliance of the plans agreed among the local government, DIREPRO and OSPA.

* Organize and support training for local government officials, DIREPRO, OSPA and other local stakeholders (public and private) on issues related to proper solid waste management, promotion of good practices, and recycling.

* Support the organization of forums, events, awareness campaigns and other activities that promote behavioral change in citizens and members of the OSPA for the sustainable management of waste, recycling, and reuse.

* Coordinate with the public and private sector to mobilize resources that contribute to improved SWM/R.

* Coordinate with cooperating agencies´ representatives that are implementing activities at the local level.

* Monitor and accompany CCBO Peru´s local grantees, subcontractors and/or municipal officials in implementing activities in the site area.

* Maintain regular communication with the CCBO Lima Country office.

* Any other responsibility assigned by his/her supervisor.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Environmental, Industrial, Chemical or Sanitary Engineering and/or Biology and/or Public Policy.

* At least 5 years of experience in solid waste management.

* At least 2 years of experience working with local or regional governments.

* Proactivity, Creativity, Collaboration, Adaptability, Emotional Intelligence, Problem-solving.

* Ability to work under pressure and in teams.

* Proactive and resourcefulness.

* Spanish and functional English.
