PLAY International is looking for an educational coordinator for its projects within the Rwanda mission. The expected start date for the position is set on September 1 er 2024. Duty station: Kigali – RWANDA with travel within the country

PLAY International

PLAY International is a French NGO founded in 1999 on the conviction that sport is a source of solutions to our social challenges. PLAY International’s main mission is to design and implement education and inclusion projects for children and young people in vulnerable situations, using sports as a pedagogical tool. The NGO works in particular on issues such as access to and retention in school, equality between girls and boys, community reconciliation, health prevention, changing attitudes to disability… Since its creation, PLAY International has implemented educational and humanitarian projects in France and abroad in over 25 countries, benefiting nearly 1 million children. Today, the association has 6 missions in Burundi, Comoros, France, Kosovo, Rwanda and Senegal. PLAY International is a member of Groupe SOS. The Rwanda mission opened in 2023.

SOS Group

Missions

The pedagogical coordinator is responsible for implementing the educational strategy within Mission Rwanda. He/she designs, distributes and evaluates educational content in cooperation with PLAY International’s local partners. Within the mission, the pedagogical coordinator brings his/her pedagogical expertise to all of the mission’s projects and promotes the transversality of the pedagogical tools used; he/she proposes the pedagogical part and the pedagogical deployments of the proposed projects. He/she works under the supervision of the Head of Mission, and is technically supported by the NGO’s head office pedagogical referent, who validates all locally-created content.

Responsibilities and activities

1. Strategy & deployment of training and educational interventions

  • Organizes the pedagogical strategy and roadmap for each project and ensures its implementation
  • Ensures the quality of the training provided: validation of tools and content in line with head office and local project objectives.
  • Deploys pedagogical proposals in an operational manner: training courses, interventions, pedagogical days and seminars.
  • Contributes to strengthening the pedagogical skills of local partners.

2. Co-creation of thematic content and teaching aids

  • Creates and adapts pedagogical content such as game sessions, thematic sheets, manuals, guides, etc. in line with the context, project objectives and beneficiary profiles.
  • Guarantees the creation and quality of curricula and training tools (training plan, training modules, etc.).

3. Evaluation and capitalization on practices linked to education through play or sport

  • Develops monitoring and evaluation tools (indicators, observation grids, questionnaires, etc.) on the qualitative and quantitative educational aspects of projects in connection with headquarters and operations,
  • Supports and validates the writing of training and pedagogical activity reports.
  • Continuously monitors and capitalizes on play and educational practices (collects the best games and best practices).
  • Participates with the Pedagogical Referent in the development of the NGO’s pedagogical policy, in liaison with the other pedagogical coordinators at headquarters and in the field.
  • Contributes to the creation of communities of practice in Rwanda, between partners or between PLAY missions.

4. Supporting the development of the Rwanda mission

  • Participates in defining and implementing the mission’s global strategy.
  • Provides pedagogical support for program design.
  • Supports the drafting of reports to donors.

The missions described in this sheet are not exhaustive. They may therefore evolve according to the external and internal context.

Training

Masters’ degree in the fields of social sports activities, international project management or educational sciences, a Physical Education / Sports degree and/or Adapted Physical Education degree (French equivalent: STAPS and/or APA) is a plus.

Know-how or experience

  • Demonstrated experience (minimum 5 years) in one of the following areas:

– Pedagogical engineering or training engineering for adults

– Sports and social activities or physical and sports education, especially for children

– Multi-actor educational project management

  • Experience in adapted sports or physical activity is a plus
  • Strong writing skills
  • Proficiency in office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Good level of French (written, spoken) : B2

Know-how

  • Organizational rigor, team spirit and good interpersonal skills, sense of initiative, autonomy
  • Ability to manage stressful situations, deadlines and priorities
  • Observation and listening skills

Conditions

  • Start date: 01st September 2024
  • 18-month fixed-term contract (French contract)
  • Salary: according to internal salary scale
  • Position based at PLAY Rwanda headquarters: At HI Rwanda, Kicukiro – KIGALI – RWANDA
