Peace and Conflict / Do No Harm Expert – Anglophone Africa

HYDROPHIL is currently looking for a Peace and Conflict / Do No Harm Expert for the KfW-financed ���Framework Contract for Consulting Services in Fragile Contexts��� in the Anglophone Africa. KfW launched the internal project ���KfW in fragile contexts��� with the objective to further improve the quality and effectiveness of its involvement in fragile contexts. The project���s areas of work include among other activities the design of efficient procedures in line with context specific requirements and the development of new instruments.

Description of assignment
The Peace and Conflict Analysis (PCA) will ensure that KfW planned interventions are tailored to the specific contexts and people targeted or otherwise affected by the interventions. PCA will be the basis for ensuring that projects are context-sensitive, maximizing development potentials and minimizing unintended negative impacts in the context of fragility and conflict (���Do-No-Harm���-principle).
General Qualification and skills:

Master���s or higher degree in Political Science, Intercultural Conflict Management, Reconciliation and Peacebuilding, Conflict Prevention, Mediation, or other related academic field.
At least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
Geographic experience in one (or more) of the following countries: Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan.
Experience in the water sector.
Strong track-record in conducting conflict sensitive and gender sensitive analysis, as well as sound experience in applying the Do-No-Harm approach.
Profound experience in conducting peace, fragility and security analysis and assessments and formulating recommendations related to conflict prevention for project planning and monitoring.
Fluency in English.

Specific experience:

Experience in preparing reports and studies related to conflict prevention, peacebuilding, conflict analysis would be an asset.
Prior experience in conducting PCA for clients such as the KFW, World Bank, ADB would be also an advantage.
