Job Responsibilities:

  • Design proper strategies and Catalyzing approaches to effective implementation of peacebuilding and social cohesion initiatives and related activities.
  • Prepare a detailed work plan for the implementation of peace and social cohesion activities of the Catalyzing Community Resilience in Northern Syria project.
  • Continuously collect and share new updates and developments related to social cohesion and peacebuilding at the local level.
  • She/He is responsible for timely and quality implementation of peace-related activities and attainment of targets.
  • Devise strategies and means for smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Build the capacity of relevant stakeholders in the area of peacebuilding and social cohesion.
  • Ensure the participation of different ethnic and religions in the communities
  • Develop and implement guidelines, manuals and SoPs that could help in mainstreaming of conflict.
  • Introduce and scale-up conflict sensitivity approaches in IHR programs.
  • Oversee the implementation of grassroots community conversation sessions and facilitate the undertaking of peace-related events.
  • Properly manage the utilization of the budget allocated for peacebuilding.
  • Develop and update project risk plans and put in place proper mitigation measures
  • Facilitate training focused on building leadership and life skills including respecting others, managing emotions, communication skills, and personal responsibility to youth, women and community leaders.
  • Establish peacebuilding network groups among the different community groups.
  • Support women and men with business development grants to set up their businesses and participate in work placement opportunities.
  • Submit monthly reports; contribute to donor quarterly and end-of-project reports and peacebuilding and annual reports.
  • Inform the direct line manager about any challenges, difficulties, and concerns in the implementation of activities or issues in the social context.
  • Attend relevant interagency, sector coordination, and representational meetings as required in coordination with the Program Coordinator.
  • Build the capacity of relevant stakeholders in the area of peacebuilding and social cohesion.
  • Develop and implement guidelines, manuals, and SoPs that could help in the mainstreaming of conflict

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related of conflict Studies, peace studies, teaching, social work, child development/psychology, sociology, or other relevant fields
  • At least 4 years of experience implementing social cohesion and peacebuilding programs.
  • Excellent written and spoken the English language
  • Experience in providing training and capacity building for staff
  • Ability to understand and respect the cultural, religious, and political environment and to work well with staff and local authorities in a diplomatic manner.
  • Project management experience and ability to conduct technical and financial planning of operations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, and capacity to maintain relations with community leaders, members, children, and youth.
  • Proficiency in computer use, including internet research and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
