ROLE SUMMARY:

Right To Play (RTP) UK was established in 2006 and is part of Right To Play International (RTPI). In the UK we support the global mission through our partnerships with Trust and Foundations, Mid and Major Donors, and individuals, corporates, and our strong portfolio of fundraising events.

Reporting to the Head of Partnerships, the Partnerships Officer will be responsible for managing relationships with existing mid and major donors to excellent standards and for maximising opportunities to engage new HNWIs in RTP’s cause. You will also identify opportunities for RTP UK to generate key funding from mid and large-sized Trusts and Foundations; drive new business and maintain and grow existing relationships across Corporate Fundraising; as well as assist with the implementation of our legacy fundraising strategy, and contribute towards our event delivery, in order to grow RTP UK’s fundraising portfolio and help RTP reach our goal of supporting 100 million children by 2030.

You will help deliver a fundraising strategy that will result in income growth year-on-year. In return, you will be part of a dynamic and agile team that is passionate about helping children rise above adversity and reach their full potential.

You may be required to travel occasionally outside regular office hours to attend meetings and events (TOIL will be provided).

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

#1: Mid-Major Donors (25% of Time):

  • Manage existing mid and major donor relationships to excellent standards
  • Be proactive about identifying potential new mid and major donors who could support RTP’s cause by tapping into our existing Mid and Major Donors’ (including the Board’s) contacts
  • Help lead on cultivation events that bring us in contact with a wide range of potential supporters
  • Develop appropriate and engaging fundraising communications and materials
  • Help to support RTP UK’s event delivery
  • Make appropriate use of MCRM (RTP’s relationship database) in order to record every communication with Mid and Major Donors and input gifts as these are pledged

#2: Trust and Foundations (25% of Time):

  • Manage existing Trust and Foundation relationships to excellent standards by keeping regular contact with these as needed, in order to secure future opportunities for funding
  • Be proactive in identifying new Trust and Foundation opportunities that RTP UK could benefit from
  • Write engaging and informative applications to Trust and Foundations following each Trust and Foundation’s specific guidelines and requirements
  • Write impact reports for these to be submitted when required by each funder
  • Diarise and prioritise dates for application deadlines and impact report submissions
  • Make appropriate use of MCRM in order to record every communication with Trusts and Foundations, and input grants as these are pledged

#3: Corporate Fundraising (15% of Time):

  • Manage and, wherever possible, grow RTP UK’s existing corporate partnerships
  • Identify and lead on new business opportunities in order to grow our funding pipeline both through existing support and by engaging with prospective partners
  • Generate new business leads through independent research and Board/Committee networks.
  • Develop corporate fundraising communications and materials
  • Work on and submit timely and accurate impact reports tailored to each corporate as and when required.
  • Work with other RTP National Offices to maximise the potential of corporate partnerships that have a global reach
  • Make appropriate use of MCRM in order to record every communication with corporates and input gifts as these are pledged

#4: Legacy Fundraising (5% of Time):

  • Help design and deliver a successful legacy fundraising strategy
  • Continuously review RTP UK’s legacy fundraising strategy in order to monitor its success and help implement strategical change to this whenever needed

#5: Systems, Processes, Team Working and Management (25% of Time):

  • Help monitor income and expenditure budgets, including forecasts, for managed Trusts and Foundations, HNWIs, and corporate partners, reporting variances as needed
  • Represent the team in meetings/other events as directed
  • Participate in activities to support our growth globally, as required
  • Support the team whenever needed
  • Contribute to projects or tasks as required by the Senior Management Team

#6: Other Tasks as Assigned (5% of Time)

WHAT YOU’LL BRING (ESSENTIAL):

  • 2 years’ experience working in a fundraising environment and achieving financial targets
  • A proven track record of having written and submitted successful Trust and Foundation applications or having built beneficial relationships with Mid and Major Donors or Corporate Funders
  • Experience representing a charity at meetings and events
  • Experience in using a supporters’ database
  • Understanding of the fundraising landscape and charity legislation, in particular in relation to partnership agreements, GDPR, and tax-efficient giving
  • Budgeting experience, including forecasting, monitoring, maintaining agreed cost/income ratios and regular reporting of outcome against KPIs
  • Knowledge surrounding trends within the fundraising landscape in order to identify opportunities for growth for RTP UK
  • Ability to monitor, assess, evaluate and report back to donors on how their support has made a difference to the children RTP supports
  • Outstanding English writing skills and a high attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal sensitively and diplomatically with a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

  • Experience of working within an international development or humanitarian context
  • Understanding of international development issues and context
  • A qualification in fundraising
