Investing in Women

Investing in Women (IW) is a multi-country Australian Government initiative in Southeast Asia that seeks to improve women’s economic participation as employees and as entrepreneurs and influence the enabling environment to promote Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE). It commenced in April 2016 with operations in the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar and is due to run through to June 2023. It is managed out of the Gender Equality Branch (GEB) of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Canberra. The Program is supporting the following outcomes:

  • More businesses achieve improved gender equality in their workplaces
  • Intentional impact investments in women’s small and medium enterprises (WSMEs) increase
  • Positive shifts in gender norms related to workplace gender equality

About the Opportunity

Under the direction of the Director, the Partnerships Manager is responsible for managing designated Investing in Women’s campaign partnerships and research partnerships in Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Specifically, the Partnerships Manager will:

Manage designated campaign partnerships to deliver intended results, including:

  • Managing partner contracts to ensure timely submission and payment against contract deliverables
  • Ensuring partners implementation is in alignment with IWs mandate and theory of change
  • Working closely with IW contracts team to implement procurement plan in each country and coordinating contracts with partners;
  • Developing good working relationships with partners;
  • Supporting partners to reach targeted audiences with appropriate messaging and performance measurement, in line with IWs EOP;
  • Providing technical support and reviews of key deliverables in coordination with IW advisers;
  • Supporting partner learning opportunities;
  • Supporting the work of research partners to engage positively with ongoing campaign partnerships to periodically research campaign messages and audience response, quantitatively and qualitatively;
  • Working closely with Investing in Women’s other work units (e.g., the Strategic Implementation Unit, Monitoring Evaluation and Learning, Communications ) as needed;
  • · Managing and reporting on risks and budget implications;
  • · Supporting research partner contracts to ensure timely submission and payment against contract deliverables;
  • · Working closely with IW’s Monitoring Evaluation and Learning team to integrate research findings into other monitoring and learning products;

Support Australia’s public diplomacy initiatives in all three countries through identifying events and opportunities for engagement

Contribute to other team tasks as needed, team meetings, strategy implementation and review

About You

We are seeking an individual who brings or who possesses:

  • Experience and competence in project and contract management, preferably of donor-supported projects
  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences or other relevant area and ability to engage with complex ideas and translate to practical actions
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment issues, particularly in Southeast Asia
  • Experience and competence in relationship management
  • Interest in and knowledge of social media platforms
  • Flexibility and ability to work well in teams
  • Competence in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Experience working in the Philippines, Indonesia and/or Vietnam and language skills for any of these countries (highly desirable)
