Amal is a non-profit Syrian non-governmental organization established to provide life-saving aid and services to the most vulnerable people, strengthening their resilience, advocating for their basic rights, and also contributing to providing recovery and revitalization programs for societies that war torned.

Amal Organization is a relief and development organization, was established in early 2013 and the organization was licensed and registered in Turkey – Gaziantep on 6/6/2014.

Position Profile:

The Partnership Lead is responsible for supporting the Amal Organization’s development and sustainability. The role is crucial in growing Amal Organization’s profile and supporter base; acquiring and retaining new donors, and nurturing existing donors. The role is also responsible for brand management and stakeholder engagement.

This position is responsible for identifying opportunities and developing and implementing initiatives to cultivate current and prospective donors to ensure a strong base of ongoing financial support. This role will ensure that Amal Organization acquires and retains significant funds from major donors, prescribed private funds (PPF) and the corporate sector. To achieve this, strong relationships with philanthropic and corporate partners are necessary.

The Partnership Lead will be responsible for developing the strategic fundraising plan in cooperation with the country director, to ensure that Amal Organization is well positioned to deliver on its mission in the future with sustainable fundraising revenue streams.

He/She must have a strong understanding of the Syrian context and/or experience in MENA Region including but not limited to understanding of the clusters, working groups, advocacy groups/bodies ..etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic:
  • Oversee the development of a rich content library including but not limited to factsheets, videos, personal stories, statistics, infographics, images, and other materials for use in both online and offline collateral.
  • Develop, implement and drive organization-wide digital strategy, including the development of KPIs for digital communications, social media, and website.
  • Lead development of channel strategies for communications via DM, website, social media and other digital channels.
  • Work with colleagues to develop strong integration between fundraising communications and relationship-based fundraising strategies.
  • Ensure branding, brand guidelines and consistent tone and messaging are embedded throughout Amal Organization’s marketing activities and external communications, to continue building national brand awareness.
  1. Partner Relations:
  • Maintain strong and good relationships with current donors.
  • Oversight of all traditional fundraising activities which includes: Gift-inkind, normal grants, consortiums, Trust and Philanthropic grants; Regular giving; Corporate Partnerships and Government Funding.
  • Mapping out all regular funding opportunities at national and international levels and create a communication matrix accordingly.
  • Ensure that processes are in place to increase a donor’s engagement with Amal Organization e.g. increased donations, volunteering, event attendance, etc.
  • Identify areas for improvement within existing fundraising streams and implement changes to ensure growth in fundraising revenues.
  • Meet with all current donors and potential ones when and where needed.

New Funding & Grant Writing

  • Develop a process for identifying organizational priorities for grants and submissions to maximize the organisation’s return.
  • Develop and submit compelling and successful funding proposals to meet targets.
  • Ensure submissions’ completeness, quality, feasibility, and competitiveness.
  • Opportunities are identified to develop, grow, and pursue prioritised grant funding.
  • Key metrics are established and delivered in relation to targeted proposal volume, success rates, and income growth.
  • Develop new fundraising streams through the identification of new trust and the organization’s fundraising opportunities and raising awareness of Amal Organization’s work.
  • Leverage the networks with the donors and supporters to bring new donors to Amal Organization.

Reporting:

  • Provide ongoing updates on fundraising activities and results to the country director and board.
  • Maintain a register of donor reporting requirements and ensure that these are adequately met.
  • Maintain current records in database and develop mechanisms to enable grant tracking.
  • Manage grant contracts acquittal and reporting requirements for all current funders and ensure full compliance with grant reporting requirements.
  • Develop strong relationships with program teams across the organization to ensure information collected for proposals/acquittal and other requests from funders is accurate and timely.

Operational Systems and Standards:

  • Ensure Policy and Procedures are implemented.
  • Assist in the identification and development of new policies as required

Key Selection Criteria:

  • +7 years of experience in relevant roles, including experience leading a partnership sector in non-governmental domain.
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in fundraising, marketing, media and public relations, brand management, internal communications, and stakeholder management, preferably including experience in Non-profit organisations.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in managing stakeholder relations with international donors, ministries of foreign affairs and UN agencies.
  • Highly collaborative, with demonstrated ability to engage with colleagues with respect, and earn respect. He/she has the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong knowledge of grants’ management both nationally and globally, with a proven track record in writing successful grant submissions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated high level organizational skills.
  • Bachelor degree or a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline. Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related discipline will be well regarded.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with donor acquisition and stewardship.
  • Native English speaker. Arabic and French are added values.

Additional Information:

  • This position could be remotely or on spot.
  • Probation period for two months.
  • Other compensations can be discussed at a further step.
