Partnership Coordinator – SIDA

The Opportunity

Working in partnership is central to Save the Children’s Theory of Change and how to maximize our impact for children. Capacity strengthening of Civil Society Organisations (including child-led and youth-led organisations) is a key element of this SIDA funded Civil Society Strengthening programme (2022-2026).

The key role of the Partnership Coordinator is to facilitate and coordinate processes of strengthening partner capacities as well as ensuring quality partnership management in this program, building on Save the Children’s global partnership principles to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the implementation of the programme at both national and district levels. The partnership Coordinator will lead in coordinating and facilitating partner organizational capacity assessments and organisational development plans of implementing and strategic partners within the programme. He/she will also support in creating opportunities for joint planning and implementation of partnership activities, learning and information sharing and networking, as well as documentation and dissemination of partner capacity strengthening initiatives, case studies, lessons learnt and best practices regarding partnership management.

While working in close collaboration with the Senior Technical Advisers, he/she will also ensure that a child rights based approach is reflected in partnership management and programme implementation in line with Save the Children’s child rights programming approach, with a strong focus on child participation. The partnership Coordinator will also steer the rolling out of partnership processes of working with child-led organisations with technical support from Save the Children Sweden. He/she will also work across the thematic Outcomes in the programme to establish mechanisms for maintaining effective partnerships that contribute to Save the Children’s strategic direction and support reaching the breakthroughs for children in Malawi.

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in any one of the following fields: Social Sciences, Social Work, Community Development and; Gender and Development Studies.
• Additional training on Partnership Management will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience, including at least 3 years of CSO partnership management and coordination
• Demonstrable skills with practical experience in coordinating and facilitating Organisational capacity development (including Organisational capacity assessments and implementation of the organisational development plans).
• Demonstrable skills with practical experience in using child participatory approaches in programming as well as partnerships
• Demonstrable skills in leveraging technical support from strategic partners to promote peer-to-peer technical support within the program.
• Demonstrated skills and knowledge in child rights, children most impacted by inequality and discrimination, Conflict sensitivity, Gender equality, Environment and climate change.
• Deep knowledge of local partnership, Civil Society and donor context.
• Training, capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skills.
• Demonstrated skills in system strengthening thinking and implementation.
• Ability to positively influence cross departmental and cross sector working.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills, a collaborative and flexible manner, creativity and willingness to innovate.
• Proven oral and written presentation skills and ability to communicate to a number of internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to identify potential problems before they occur. Proactive in preparation and ability to use initiative response
• Computer skills, including internet, office applications, including Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills required.

Desirable

• Familiarity with SIDA Strengthening Civil Society Programme and donor regulations and policies, or experience with framework funding.
• Excellent inter-personal skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Ability to travel extensively domestically and outside Malawi as required.
• Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills
• Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours and work with incoming teams.
• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
