Partnership Coordinator

United Network of Young Peacebuilders

The United Network of Young Peacebuilders is looking for a Partnership Coordinator with responsibility for leading and implementing UNOY’s fundraising strategy and partnership development, starting in March. This is a position on 0.8 FTE, based in The Hague. Working from the office is required for at least 50% of the working week.

Position Title: Partnership Coordinator

Position Type: Part-time staff (0.8 FTE)

Location: The Hague, The Netherlands

Organisation

UNOY Peacebuilders is a youth-led network of more than 120 youth organisations from 65+ countries around the world, working towards peaceful societies shaped by young people. Our International Secretariat is located in The Hague, the city of peace and justice. The Secretariat is run by a young and dedicated international team of nine staff, six interns, and six remotely based regional coordinators. The leadership of the network is shared between two Co-Directors.

Accessing sustainable funding is a persistent challenge for youth organisations working in the peace and security field. A majority of the youth-led organisations operate with limited funding, with 49% operating under USD 5,000 per annum and only 11% over USD 100,000 – as demonstrated by the report Mapping a Sector: Bridging the Evidence-base on Youth-Driven Peacebuilding (UNOY Peacebuilders and SFCG, 2017). Despite a growing recognition of this structural issue among governmental donors and other non-youth peace and security stakeholders, most funding instruments remain difficult or even impossible to access for a majority of youth-led organisations working on peace and security. To a certain extent, this challenge is replicated at the global level, where many funding opportunities remain inaccessible to organisations of the size and structure of UNOY.

Seven years after the adoption of the first UN Security Council Resolution 2250 recognising the importance and role of youth in peacebuilding, UNOY has paved the way for critical developments in the Youth, Peace, and Security field. In 2021, we have entered into a new strategic period, with a focus on five change objectives. Our goal is to continue shaping the global agenda for Youth, Peace and Security, by supporting youth-led creative approaches to peace, prioritising the protection of the civic space of young peacebuilders and resourcing young peacebuilders with knowledge, skills, attitudes and funds.

Job Position

We are now looking for a Partnership Coordinator who will be responsible for leading and implementing UNOY’s fundraising strategy and partnership development. As the Partnership Coordinator you will be supported by the Fundraising Officer (intern), who you are also responsible for managing. You will be supervised by the Co-director (strategy).

2. Donor relations and grant compliance:

  • Manage relationships with some of UNOY’s core donors through formal and informal reporting moments;

We will offer you:

  • A unique position in a global network of young peacebuilders with a solid track record of successful advocacy and action;
  • A dynamic, young and international work environment both in the office and within the wider network;
  • A paid contract for a position of 0.8 FTE (32h per week), for an initial 12 month term with the possibility to extend;
