ActionAid is an international anti-poverty agency working in over 45 countries, taking sides with poor people to end poverty together. ActionAid Myanmar’s approach is building capacity among youth and supporting them to work for the community for short- and long-term development for their own community. One of its main programs is participatory community development (includes livelihood, health, education, women’s rights, DRR etc.); through fellowship for young people to promote development in Myanmar. ActionAid Myanmar has been working in partnership with Government, the local and national NGOs in different states and divisions. Position Title : Partnership and Fundraising Lead

Requirement : 1 post

Location : Remote or in Yangon (Head office)

Compensation : Basic pay starting from 1,815 USD per month (negotiation upon experience) + other Benefits

Contract type : National

Role Overview : This position will be a cross cutting role which will support the head of Innovation and Partnerships on partnership management, proposal development and set the process rolling for new projects and programmes with careful risk analysis and assessment.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Strategy development

• Participate in development of AAM strategy and operational plans in the new context and actively contribute to ensuring the quality of ActionAid’s work in Myanmar

• Support on scenario planning

• Support on risk assessment and analysis when needed

• Develop and ensure the implementation of AA Myanmar fundraising initiatives

• Support the development of fundraising strategy and provide critical support and guidance in the development of strategic plans and budgets for child sponsorship, social enterprise and partnership development

Partnership Development

• Lead and support on fundraising through development of concept notes and proposal development

• Forge new partnerships while being grounded and ensuring that the focus of such initiatives emerge from furthering the key goals as identified in the Country Strategy Paper (CSP) and the revised plans based on scenario planning.

• Conduct donor mapping, to build linkages with official donors, charities and responsible corporate sectors, to undertake donor negotiation and follow up, and to raise issue based and thematic work;

• Support on due diligence on partners where needed to ensure that AAM values are being upheld and respected

Proposal development

• Proactively identify funding opportunities on regular basis; lead, coordinate and support the development of proposals and concept notes for fundraising (with a focus on humanitarian and resilience based projects and programmes).

• Lead the development of competitive concept papers and project proposal in accordance to the donor requirements and guidelines with related function in ActionAid Myanmar

• Final review the proposals to ensure the alignment to ActionAid Myanmar’s CSP, funding plan and donor’s requirement before submission for the sign off of country director to potential donors

• Monitor proposal/concept note success rates and assess reasons for success and failure.

• Deliver new projects – with a focus on short term humanitarian projects (3-6 months) and Set up of new projects and programmes as they emerge with a focus on resilience and humanitarian focused programmes

Staff management

• Ensure an enabling environment for staff performance, recognition and reward of Programme Quality in charge to encourage staff productivity, innovation and performance (e.g. facilities, equipment, duty facilitation, team building etc.)

• Participate in the review of staff job descriptions and setting of performance standards when required (especially for short term projects and programmes)

• Involvement in recruitment of staff under supervision

• Assign performance objectives to supervised staff, conduct comprehensive performance appraisal of supervised staff and provide / obtain feedback when necessary

Education & Certifications

• BA in a relevant field, Masters desired but not essential

Essential Experience

• Minimum 6 years of previous work experience from the field of international development, including experience working with project/programme management including partnership development and fundraising sectors.

• Sound experience on ethnic armed conflicts and peace processes in Myanmar/Burma.

• Proven record of proposal development, Monitoring and evaluation, programme management.

• Sound experience in deliver risk analysis and conflict sensitivity assessment linked to development programming and design

English proficiency

• Fluency in English written and spoken.

• Ability to write academic text in English.

Skills and Attributes

• Demonstrate strong written communication, research and analytical and ability to rapidly integrate information from various sources.

• Familiar with the concept of participatory development and bottom-up governance processes.

• Knowledgeable of governance field and Ethnic states in Myanmar.

• Technical skills in production, editing, and ability to write quickly, clearly and concisely in English.

• Ability to deliver on time as committed and be responsive to all communications from AAM.
