Paralegal – Private Equity

Team Structure

This role is to work across the private equity group which forms part of the wider corporate department. The private equity team consists of 5 partners, 1 counsel and 13 associates which has doubled in size in the last 18 months and continues to grow. Unlike most private equity practices, the Stephenson Harwood PE Group consists of both funds lawyers and transactional lawyers, with a view to servicing PE clients from ‘cradle to grave’ from the formation of their fund vehicle, the re-structuring of fund vehicles, secondaries transactions and the acquisition and sale of portfolio companies.

Main Responsibilities

• Working with the private equity group and offering support as needed
• Carry out disclosure as and when needed
• Performing legal and factual research tasks
• Preparing correspondence
• Preparing reports and basic notes of advice
• Case management – including organisation and tracking case files

Attributes/Skills Required

• Candidates must have good academics and have completed the LPC or BPTC (ideally a 2:1 and more than a pass for LPC or competent for the BPTC).
• Previous paralegal experience is essential
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Excellent drafting, presentation and communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
• Organised, with good time management and the ability to work to deadlines
• A good team player
• Proactive and resilient
• Good knowledge of Excel
