Education: Required – Must be college student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Recent graduates will be considered. Must be willing to work 10-20 hours per week at the local program office. Some local travel may be necessary.
Experience: Personal/Business/Organization social media account management experience. Email, Microsoft Office experience. Strong organizational experience.
Summary: Through a grant award from the State of Texas’ Office of the Governor, BCFS HHS will operate the program Common Thread. Common Thread present opportunities for robust internships in the area of outreach and community education via assigned staff. The Outreach Worker will work with Common Thread to increase awareness of child trafficking in their local area.
Intern Functions:
- Assist in the creation of outreach materials used to increase community awareness
- Organize materials for presentations and outreach events, including mobilizing the community to identify trafficking victims
- Represent Common Thread at community events by providing information to the community about the program, human trafficking, and agency
- Assist community efforts in working with community-based organizations and other stakeholders to establish partnerships throughout assigned counties
- Assist community efforts by connecting the program to useful resources for clients served
- Assist with tracking outreach and data
- Assist with research for human trafficking presentations and trainings
- Create, post, and maintain program’s outreach social media account
