Terre des hommes (Tdh) is the largest Swiss child relief organisation. Active in nearly 40 countries, Tdh works with local and international partners to develop and implement projects on the ground that improve the daily lives of more than four million children and members of their communities in the areas of health, protection and emergency. This commitment is funded by individual and institutional support, with administrative costs kept to a minimum.

Under the supervision of the Head of Private Fundraising (RDFP), you will be attached to the Philanthropy unit of the Communication and Fundraising Department.

Your mission is to act as a link between operations, in charge of implementing projects in the field, and the members of the Philanthropy sector. You will be responsible for selecting and prioritising projects in the field according to their funding needs and for ensuring that the rules and principles established by your sector are respected. You will provide the necessary support to fundraisers in order to supply them with all the materials required for their activity. You will also act as grant writer and produce all funding applications, project reports in 3 languages and communication materials. You will coordinate and manage the progress of the funding and the flow of information between the two teams.

Responsibilities

  • You support the collaboration between the Philanthropy sector and the Operations department (rules and principles, prioritisation of requests from the field, identification and follow-up of priority projects, financial follow-up).
  • You are in charge of sharing information from the field (regular updates with the Operations department, sharing of communication material from the field).
  • You are in charge of due diligence issues for the department.
  • You will be in charge of writing for the Philanthropy sector: writing funding applications and project reports in collaboration with the Operations department, monitoring the needs of the sector, monitoring translations.
  • You are in charge of the development and follow-up of promotional material according to the needs identified by target.
  • You will ensure that the Philanthropy sector is properly integrated into the due diligence and grant acquisition processes.
  • You will ensure coordination with the other sectors of the department, with a particular focus on the Institutional Fundraising sector.
  • You will support the delegations in screening opportunities for private donors internationally and in Switzerland (foundations, companies), and ensure good practice and general coordination of follow-up.

Profile:

Education:

  • University education or other studies in the fields of fundraising, project management or communication

Experience:

  • At least 3 years in fundraising (writing project proposals)
  • Knowledge of donor mechanisms
  • Knowledge of the Swiss fundraising market
  • NGO experience desirable

Language:

  • French or English, mother tongue with excellent knowledge of the other language. German/Italian is an asset

Skills

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Very good command of the usual IT and data management tools
  • Good analytical and synthesis skills

Salary:

Salary and social insurance corresponding to those of a Swiss NGO.
