Estates & Facilities Services Directorate is responsible for delivering a full estates and facilities management service to the University, including property maintenance, planned maintenance and renovation, cleaning, security, caretaking and facilitating spaces for our staff and students.

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an Operations Manager (Stores, Mail and Transport)

Reporting to the Assistant University Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall management of the Estates & Facilities stock, Mail department and Estates fleet of vehicles. Co-ordinating and supervising your own front-line team consisting of the Assistant Operations Manager, and a small team consisting of mail room operatives and drivers. You will be ensuring effective use of resources, with your aim firmly fixed on ensuring stock is well managed, value for money is being sought and our service level agreements are being met for the facilities and trades teams and that our mail service and transport are all performing to the best of their ability.

As part of an established team, you will help contribute towards our goal of providing a first-class Facilities Management Service, across the University.

The core role is to ensure we can maintain our Estate and fleet in order to provide a first class experience for our colleagues, students, and visitors alike.

You will be directly responsible for managing the team’s workload, absence and development.

You will build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers and service users. Being proactive you will ensure facilities are maintained consistently to a high standard. You will carry out regular inspections and audits with a focus on improving and developing service delivery. This role will be responsible for delivering the service within SLA’s and ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with best H&S practices.
