We are currently seeking to hire an Emergency Response Operations Manager to serve with our office in South Sudan. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing all emergency response resources and operations support personnel with the goal of optimizing effectiveness and efficiency in emergency response programming. Use your experience and leadership abilities to provide strategic oversight and leadership to the emergency response team in the areas of logistics, procurement, inventory, supply chain management and administration. A day in the life of an Emergency Response Operations Manager

In the role of Emergency Response Operations Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him
  • Manage the Emergency Response Operations Department to ensure all of the program’s procurement, logistics, and inventory needs are met
  • Support continuous up-to-date effective communication channels and accurate flow of information between field sites and the Juba office
  • Improve operations systems, processes and policies in support of the organization’s mission
  • Serve as a member of the emergency Response Senior Management Team, and provide support to the Emergency Response Manager (ERM) in ensuring information flows, advice and support on operations issues
  • Supervise the development and implementation of national and international logistics and supply chain management systems
  • With input from relevant Technical Advisors, sector heads, ERM and DERM, develop comprehensive procurement plans for each major grant in order to effectively plan for program procurement needs
  • With support from the ERPLC, oversee the vendor vetting process, ensuring that required vendor vetting is completed with a high level of quality and within an acceptable timeline to ensure only high-capacity vendors are included in the database and to reduce fraud risk.
  • Serve as the primary contact between the Emergency Response Operations Department and IHQ on relevant procurement/logistics issues.
  • Develop and oversee national and international procurement systems to ensure efficient and accurate delivery of program resources
  • Enforce internal procedures regarding contracted services. In addition, provide frequent evaluation of current contracted services for cost effectiveness
  • Offer leadership and guidance to the operations department; establish and maintain a harmonious working environment with capacity building trainings seeking to strengthen & encourage active participation and interaction of operations department staff at all levels to foster staff development and empowerment.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in supply chain management, business administration, public administration, logistics, procurement or related field and 4 years of relevant work experience in administration, operations, logistics procurement and/or supply chain management, preferably with an INGO; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in establishing systems and policies for asset management, real time inventory and procurement for multi-million dollar projects; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Field experience in South Sudan or similar context and knowledge of the region is a strong asset
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies (can be completed after hire)

Travel Expectations: Occasional travel to field locations; required travel documents and vaccinations for entry into foreign countries will be necessary
