Age Exchange is currently looking for a skilled Operations Manager to lead our teams in Blackheath.

Flexible and Hybrid Working: We have a standard 35 hour working week and support hybrid working. Whilst you will need to be onsite a few days a week in Blackheath, you can work part of your week from home, cutting the commute and enabling you to spend more time getting the right work life balance for you.

Competitive Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 (dependent upon experience)

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:

This year we are celebrating our 40th Anniversary of bringing arts, culture, and creative expression to people with support needs, people living with dementia, or who face isolation. A pillar of the Blackheath community, our Community Cafe and Bakehouse Theatre bring people together through the library, cafe, and room hire.

Activities are driven by the local community from belly-dancing on Wednesdays, seated pilates, music workshops, Rhyme Time for children, through to the Book Shop sales run by the Friends of Age Exchange – our Hub is a vibrant and engaging place to be.

You will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall community experience and contributing to the mission of Age Exchange’s operations and services in Blackheath.

Day to Day

We Are Looking For An Experience Manager To Lead Our Operations In Blackheath. Reporting To The Chief Executive Officer, Day To Day You Will

Leading the development and delivery of our Blackheath Operational strategy, making sure that everything we do is aligned to our overarching strategy

Oversee the management and maintenance of our complex in Blackheath which includes the Community Café, Library, Bakehouse Theatre, Offices, and Rooms for Hire.

  • You’ll build relationships and networks in the local community – spotting opportunities for Age Exchange to have a real and meaningful impact to those facing isolation
  • Be keeping an eye on performance – you’ll be tracking spend, reporting on performance, and spotting opportunities to develop and improve
  • Spending your time with people – having great conversations, building positive relationships, supporting your teams of employees and volunteers to achieve their goals in the workplace
  • You’ll be looking for opportunities to network and grow – spotting ways to improve our services, develop our brand, and deliver meaningful impact for the local community – all which enables us to achieve our core charity objectives

Skills And Experience

Operations Management – you’ll have proven experience effectively overseeing diverse operations, particularly in a community-focused setting

Community Engagement – You’ll have brilliant experience building positive relationships within the community, connecting with local people and local businesses, and building partnerships which enhance the community’s wellbeing

Financial Acumen – You’ll have experience managing budgets, allocating resources efficiently, and identifying cost saving opportunities that don’t compromise of service or quality

Facility Management – you’ll understand health and safety legislation, food standards and hygiene rules, and safeguarding and CQC regulations. You’ll know what you need to do to maintain high standard of cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance for a wide variety of spaces which include the café, library, offices, and rooms for hire.

Leadership – you’ll have experience leading teams well, managing performance, inspiring and motivating colleagues to success, to ensure a collaborative and productive work environment.

Challenge Solving – you’ll have strong analytical and problem solving skills and you’ll be able to address challenges creatively and strategically

Adaptability – you’ll have capacity to adapt to changing circumstances and proactively seek opportunities for improvement
