Job Objective
Reporting to the Senior Director, Data Management, the Junior Developer is responsible for providing cross-departmental support to the data acquisition team and other OTI business units.
This position will provide daily indexing and analysis of content available across various media sites. This includes all steps in the data management process with a heavy emphasis on data extraction, dataset transformation and data automation initiatives. This role will also assist with ad-hoc project needs.
As a key position within OTI’s operations team, this role interfaces daily with OTI staff, contractors and other OTI departments.
Primary Responsibilities
Code Development: Developing, maintaining, and writing code for OTI projects utilizing Python, Git, and SQL.
Data Acquisition/Auditing: Daily monitoring of various media sites using Python, SQL and other tools to mine and cleanse relevant information for downstream use in the production of client deliverables.
Data Cleansing: Help to transform and cleanse collected data. Work on systems to help improve processes for cleansing and verification of collected data.
Automation: Maintain and develop systems and code to automate work and processes throughout OTI.
Ad Hoc Reporting & Analysis: Respond and deliver upon additional data requests and assignments across the data acquisition team and all other OTI departments.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a computer, technology or programming discipline or commensurate experience.
1+ years of experience in Python programming.
Experience in automation and data collection with Python using a Linux or Windows environment.
Fluency in the Python standard libraries as well as 3rd party libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Requests, Selenium, etc.
A general understanding of JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, and how data is transferred over internet protocols.
Strong working knowledge of Git.
Experience managing data in a SQL environment.
Strong quantitative analysis skills and high proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
Familiarity with online streaming sites: Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.
Ability to interact with command line interfaces.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
A commitment to self-sufficiency and the ability to work as part of a team.
Intellectual curiosity, innovation, high standards, strict adherence to deadlines.
Direct experience within the telecom, cable/satellite TV and consumer electronics sectors is a plus.
