Roles and Responsibilities of CBFRM (Community Based Feedback Response Mechanism) Focal Points.

Communities are the most important stakeholder in regards to humanitarian responses.

In order to maintain commendable level of satisfaction and to ensure accountability among beneficiaries, IMC shall put in place feedback mechanisms combining: complaints mechanisms and after action feedback mechanisms. In order to ensure proper functioning of CBFRM, IMC shall support communities by providing CBFRM focal points.

Outlined roles and responsibilities of CBFRM focal points;

  1. Receive complaints (face to face or other communication means), by acting as liaison officers, collecting information and channeling it to the MEAL office.
  2. Support in filling out complaints and suggestion log books for each health station.
  3. Support d in awareness raising on accountability to beneficiaries and usage of CBFRMs
  4. Support in the gathering of beneficiaries’ opinions and suggestions and follow up on feedback.
  5. Protect the rights (privacy) of beneficiaries.

Responsibilities as Nutrition Assistant:

  • Plan and organize CMAM activities at designated sites in liaison with SMoH staff and nutrition manager.
  • Plan and organize IYCF activities in liaison with SMoH staff and nutrition manager.
  • Supporting targeting of beneficiaries; formation and establishment of Care groups.
  • Work closely with CHW and lead mothers to ensure all aspects of the program are understood and agreed and appropriate referrals take place to and from the community to OTP sites.
  • Take lead on the CMAM services at fixed and mobile outreach OTP sites.
  • Work closely with the teams to ensure all children are screened correctly.
  • Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the teams, including admission, discharge and transfer to and from the OTP.
  • Ensure comprehensive health checks and correct clinical diagnosis at the time of assessment according to the CMAM protocols so that the patient receives appropriate treatment in the relevant program.
  • Ensure all children in OTP are immunized according to the national protocols.
  • Ensure timely identification of complications, non-responders, and referrals to the SC.
  • Ensure correctness, consistence and completeness of the information in the nutrition registers.
  • Ensure adequate availability of all medical and food supplies and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned by discussing with logistics
  • Through liaison with the community volunteers provide effective follow up of all cases: particularly tracing of children who are absent from the program, sick children, long stay children, children not gaining weight, and children with social problems… etc.
  • Provide key health and nutrition education messages to beneficiaries based on the protocol and guidelines
  • Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission and discharge whenever necessary at the OTP sites.
  • Collect report from CHPs on Family MUAC, review the report and identify refresher training need for Lead Mothers/ Mothers.
  • Ensure that the families of malnourished children receive appropriate counselling, education concerning the Infant and Young Child Feed (IYCF) and caring practices through Care Group.
  • Follow-up and ensure the field team interacts with the beneficiaries properly
  • Provide a daily and weekly CMAM report to the nutrition officer

Skills and Experience

  • At least a Bsc in Nutrition or Equivalent
  • At least one-year experience in the same position
  • Justified professional experience in the management of malnutrition with an NGO operating in an environment similar to IMC.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Pidgin
  • Strong ability to think and plan strategically
  • Computer proficiency in word, PowerPoint and excel
  • Ability to work in a multiethnic environment
  • Being of Cameroonian nationality
