Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Job Overview

If you feel there is something missing in your recruitment work life and you are stuck on the same treadmill day in and day out sourcing candidates for roles then there has never been a better time than now to join our recruitment family. This is a role where we want you to use your creative and analytic skills to make an impact.

Main duties of the job

If you feel there is something missing in your recruitment work life and you are stuck on the same treadmill day in and day out sourcing candidates for roles then there has never been a better time than now to join our recruitment family.

On one day you might be facilitating focus groups with student nurses, looking at what would attract them to work with us, looking at what we can do to make their recruitment experience better and how we can improve their onboarding experience and on another you might be analysing conversion rates of those students into temporary workers on to our casual nurse Bank…..variety is definitely the spice of life here.

Our new and potential nurse recruits are not just a name or a number, they want to know more about us and the opportunities available when they work with us at any point in their nursing career – whether it be as a student nurse looking to work on our bank or someone already well on with their nursing journey. That is why we have created this new role in our team, we just need you to lead this activity and be the difference.

Working for our organisation

You will blend your analytical skills with your love of engaging with others, talking to them, informing them of opportunities across nursing within our hospitals and getting a better understanding of what is important to them. You will then transfer this into plans to support our nurse recruitment to become more responsive to the needs of our future nursing workforce.

Nurse recruitment has never been more challenging than it is today and that is why we have developed a wide range of routes into nursing and you will play a key role in supporting recruitment into these roles. You will support the development of proactive recruitment processes into:

  • Healthcare Assistant Role
  • Nursing Associate Roles
  • Nursing Apprenticeships
  • Registered Nurse Roles

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

You will help develop a programme of annual recruitment cycles for these roles which will support our workforce planning around nurse recruitment – looking at identifying key dates in the calendar and making sure we are packed full of activities to attract, engage and ultimately recruit nurses to join our hospitals.

We are not going to shy away from saying this is a job for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, working often under pressure and juggling multiple priorities – but for the right candidate, we know this will make the role even more exciting for you.

So what can we offer you? Well as well as working for an award winning organisation, you will join a very strong and dedicated team who work so hard together and having fun along the way. We will ensure you have access to all the development you need to help you thrive. We don’t micro-manage people so you will have the opportunity to use your proactive skills, challenging us to be an even better version of ourselves. You will use your engagement skills to speak to managers, students, existing staff – so that in itself will help you continue to hone and develop your communication and engagement skills.

As you may know the Government passed legislation requiring vaccination as a condition of deployment which was due to come in from 1 April 2022. However on the 31 Jan 2022 the Secretary of State has announced that this is being reconsidered. Whilst we wait for further guidance, as a Trust we have made the decision to continue to gather vaccine status during our pre-employment stages should you be made an offer, no offer would be conditional upon you having a vaccine but we need to make you aware that if the decision is taken by the government to implement mandated Covid vaccines in the future then your employment may be at risk if you do not have these.

Vaccination against continues to be the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and, of course, your patients from the virus. NHS England and NHS Improvement have always been clear that staff have a professional duty to be vaccinated.
