The Norwegian Refugee Council has launched its humanitarian response plan for the next six months, aiming to reach 800,000 people inside Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

Background

The Norwegian Refugee Council has been present in Ukraine since 2014, helping more than 700,000 people with food, shelter, water, sanitation, and legal assistance. Rapid change of situation in February 2022 during which whole Ukraine became affected by the conflict required significant scale-up of emergency programmes.

In response to the large-scale of displacement of refugees fleeing Ukraine, NRC is in the process of setting up humanitarian operations for refugees arriving in Poland, Romania and Moldova. NRC will respond, focusing on an integrated approach that combines our sectoral areas of expertise – education, protection, urban displacement outside camps, legal aid (ICLA) and shelter – working to a great extent through local partners.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking highly qualified, Resilient, dynamic professionals to respond to Ukraine crisis and support people in Ukraine and refugees in the neighbouring host countries.

We are looking for a variety of people with various expertise to launch our emergency response. Your passion, skills, and experience can make a big difference. This mission would be a start-up in a challenging, emergency context in Europe.

Below is the general person profile that we are seeking:

  • Experience in humanitarian/emergency context

  • Experience in developing partnerships and working with local partners

  • Experience working in a start-up mission

  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Strong capacity building (mentoring, coaching) skills

  • Expertise in the different programme areas and support functions (according to list of positions)

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Additional language skills (Polish, Romanian, Russian) an asset.

  • Ability to be agile and to adapt to a continuously developing crisis

The applicants passport and/or ability to obtain a Schengen visa immediately will be requirement for positions that urgently need to be filled.

What We Offer

  • Duty Station: Warsaw (Poland) Suceava (Romania) and other locations in Romania and Moldova. In the start-up phase these are non-family duty stations.

  • Contract: 1 year contract with the possibility of extension for the majority of positions. Some positions will initially for for only 6 months

  • NRC’s Salary Scale: NRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.

  • Start date: Immediately – within the next few months (depending on position)
