The Nile Basin Media Network is embarking on a strategic overhaul of The Niles’ digital platform (see current version at www.theniles.org). The dual objectives are to disseminate compelling narratives on Nile Basin affairs and to enhance the networking fabric among journalists and media houses. MiCT seeks a website that not only informs but engages, connecting people through a shared value in the content and community.

Technical Briefing

Objectives:

  1. Optimised Performance:
    Fast loading pages accommodating low bandwidth scenarios, with a conscious approach to environmental sustainability.
  2. CMS Migration:
    Seamless transition from Newscoop to a robust, intuitive CMS, ensuring data integrity and improved user management.
  3. Mobile-First Design:
    Prioritise mobile functionality to cater to predominant user access methods.
  4. Multilingual Experience:
    A fluent multilingual site catering to English, Arabic, French, Swahili, and Amharic speakers, amongst others.

    Facilitate story republishing by other media houses with an efficient syndication system.
  2. Networking Integration:
    Incorporate LinkedIn and WhatsApp integrations to strengthen professional connections and community engagement.
