Save the Children, on behalf of the NGO Platform, invites applicants for the above-mentioned position. Qualified women are strongly encouraged to apply. The NGO Platform is a coordination and support platform for all NGO’s working in Cox Bazar and surrounding area. This is a very dynamic role at the very midst of the collective humanitarian response for the Rohingya Refugees. This role will be accountable to the NGO Platform Steering Committee but administratively report into Save the Children.

The Opportunity

The job holder will be coordinating the NGO Platform that is, engaging and supporting Cox’s Bazar based International, National and Local NGOs, who are supporting in the Rohingya Refugee Crisis. The role will work to ensure better collaboration, build collective voices for upholding the basic rights of refugees, collate, and coordinate. S/he will work to create and maintain space for civil society and advocate to unblock the access issues in close coordination with ISCG (Inter Sector Coordination Group – The Coordination Body for Rohingya response). S/he will share information towards members, represents the partners in different forum like in ISCG, SEG (Strategic Executive Group – the top most level of the coordination mechanism at country level) and will ensure that NGO’s voices are heard, NGOs have equitable access to information and properly represented.

The NGOP Coordinator will facilitate required advocacy through relevant forum as necessary in close coordination with existing advocacy bodies and ensure NGOP to be adequately represented, increased network, and building capacity for NGOs working at Cox’s Bazar as needed. The NGOP Coordinator will work impartially, serving the needs of all members of the NGOP and should work closely with NGOP Steering Committee, ISCG and sectors.

Key Components

  • Will lead the NGOP Secretariat independently;
  • Engage the NGOP Steer Committee member effectively and build a coherent action oriented leadership
  • Facilitate the development and regular update of an overall NGOP strategy and action plan
  • Liaison and represent in Donor Forum and ensure that NGO’s voices are heard and members are adequately presented.
  • Contribute to the development of ISCG led new guidance, policies, and documents for refugee operation with adequate consultation with NGO communities.

Qualifications and experience

  • 5 years of substantial management experience in an NGO environment, including field operations experience running either emergency or development programs;
  • Demonstrated experience in networking and/or in sector coordination;
  • Experience in managing partnerships with NGOs / CSOs and government
  • Experience in strategy development and fundraising
  • Previous work experience in complex humanitarian coordination system
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian context, complexity, especially in refugee context
  • Excellent communication skills and expertise on using multiple platform;
  • Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically
  • Previous experience of managing and developing a diverse team and the ability to lead, motivate and develop others
  • Demonstrated credibility with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Commitment to and understanding of Humanitarian, values and principles including rights-based approaches
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Contract length: Fixed term contract for 1 year with possible extension
