Job Title: National Study Coordinator Consultant

Contract type: National Individual Consultant (NOB)

Duty Station: Juba, South Sudan

Background:

UNFPA has identified the need for further implementation research to help health services offer an HSC- and TXA-inclusive intervention package to prevent and treat PPH among pregnant women living in low-resource settings without reliable power source for cold chain storage. The present implementation research in South Sudan is part of a larger pilot implementation study.

Purpose:**

Country Context

Pilot the introduction of Heat Stable carbetocin (HSC) in humanitarian operation, South Sudan, to determine uptake of heat-stable carbetocin as a complementary item to reproductive health kits and that can be ordered through UNFPA Procurement and supply for specific contexts. The HSC Implementation research is a collaborative effort between UNFPA Humanitarian Office and Ferring and further coordinated related activities with other relevant actors including Concept Foundation.

Scope of work:**

· Support the planning and implementation of the PPH research at the national level. The NSC will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of all the outputs as defined in the study protocol, including but not limited to:

· Baseline assessment of health facilities

· National policy assessment

· Dialogue with implementing partners, including understanding relevant logistics management and supply channels

· Management of issues related to the national ethical review board and other relevant national authorities

· Organizing and conducting qualitative interviews

· Organize and co-facilitate refresher PPH clinical training and other relevant meetings and workshops

· Data collection and management

· Communication downstream (study site) and upstream (global study team)

· Study site monitoring, support, and troubleshooting

· Logistics support for all study-related visits

· Any other task assigned by the international study coordinator or country office.

Qualification and Experience:

The Consultant should have the following key competencies:

· A Master’s degree in public health or SRH is an asset.

· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in relevant area

· Excellent analytical and writing skills

· Knowledge of Arabic language is an asset

· Demonstrated ability to work in team and in harmony with persons of different national background and cultures.

Languages:

· Fluency in oral and written English is required. A report and or publication sample will be requested.

· Knowledge of Arabic will be an asset.
