Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE

Under the overall supervision of the Head, Migrant Assistance and Counter Trafficking Unit, and the direct supervision of the DTM Coordinator, the Reporting Officer will be responsible for providing technical support to the collection, validation, analysis and visualization of data collected through IOM Thailand’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM).

2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the design and generation of information products related to DTM activities and programmes, such as factsheets and comprehensive analysis reports, as well as presentations.
  • In close collaboration with the Information Management Officer, monitor the quality of collected data, provide feedback regarding any inconsistencies, and support data cleaning and analysis as needed.
  • Assist the DTM Coordinator with programme-level reporting, including, but not limited to internal reports, unit updates, donor narrative and financial reports, and ad hoc information sharing with partners.
  • Contribute to cross-sectoral and thematic analyses of interest to IOM and partners, including on human mobility in the context of climate change, migrant protection, vulnerabilities and needs.
  • Travel to areas of operation to support in building capacities of staff implementing data collection and to ensure project monitoring and the harmonization of relevant tools and practices as needed;
  • Contribute to regular dissemination of DTM products and data, including by liaising with relevant IOM units, partners and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research to support survey design, assessment preparation, and report development, including tracking available secondary data sources which can be used for validation and contextualization of DTM findings.
  • Collaborate closely with other programme units in IOM, humanitarian partners, and other stakeholders to optimize the utility and impact of DTM and help to make continuous adjustments to meet partners’ information needs.
  • Attend meetings, take meeting minutes, and provide administrative support as requested by the supervisor.
  • Contribute to the development of concept notes and project proposals and attend DTM donor meetings as directed.
  • Contribute to continuous learning within the team, including capacity building regarding the use of InDesign and other tools for the generation of high-quality information management products.
  • Recommend areas for improvements and propose solutions to improve data collection, effectiveness and efficiency of the methodology and the processes to maximize performance and contextualization of DTM field activities;
  • Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and provide general support for the development of new project tools and initiatives;
  • Perform other such duties and travels as may be assigned by the direct supervisor.

3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION:

  • University degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Information Management, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution with minimum two years of relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in data management and data visualization, preferably with an international or intergovernmental organization;
  • Experience in working effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds;
  • Strong experience with Excel, Kobo, InDesign, Illustrator required.
  • Experience with Photoshop, R will be considered advantageous.

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills are an essential requirement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain trust and good working relationship with counterparts;
  • Team-oriented, but with capacity to work independently;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency, and flexibility;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to deliver under tight timelines;

  • Excellent writing, including ability to adjust to the needs of different audiences.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills;
  • Fully computer literate.

4. LANGUAGES

  • Fluency in English (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of Thai is desirable.
