Position Summary

The Sr HR Generalist partners with HR team members and leaders throughout the organization to assess needs, and develop programs, policies, and procedures for implementation both locally and nationally. This position will have an emphasis on compensation, assisting in the design and development of NCM’s compensation practices, administration, and strategy in line with the Total Rewards Strategy. In addition, this position will cultivate both internal and external relationships and work collaboratively to ensure that NCM is attracting and retaining top talent throughout the organization, using sound judgment to determine when issues need to be escalated to the department’s senior management. Responsibilities for this role span the following functional areas: manager and employee coaching, compensation, recruiting/employment, onboarding, off boarding, benefits, performance management, data reporting, employee relations, policy implementation, and employment law compliance. This position is a senior member of the HR team, mentoring and guiding team members in his/her areas of expertise.

Essential Functions

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Compensation

In partnership with key stakeholders and the HR Team, prepare detailed job descriptions and classification systems including job levels and families to create a more systematic accurate structure and process
Review job description content and match the job to salary surveys. Work with the position supervisor to understand the key aspects of the role and find the best match
Using information gathered, calculate min, mid, and max salary level of each role and recommend range appropriate for the role and company
Guide managers through compensation decisions balancing employee and business needs
Assist in preparation of data for externally managed compensation surveys used for compensation benchmarking
Assist in technology upgrades to compensation system for greater efficiency
Assist in the design and development of NCM’s compensation practices, administration, and strategy in line with Total Rewards Strategy

 

Other Generalist Duties

Assist with core HR processes such as annual review process, employee engagement survey process, talent planning process or others, communicating deadlines, serving as point of contact for supervisors and staff, to ensure high quality outcomes and compliance
Support employees with any questions and needs related to company policies, benefits, compensation, etc.
Serves as internal consultant to managers and advisor/mediator in employee situations in which disciplinary actions or performance improvement is necessary
Resolve complex, moderate-risk employee relations issues; escalate to senior team members as appropriate
Advise and assist management with the discipline and documentation needed prior to terminations; act as a HR representative and conduct employee terminations at management’s request
Apply analytical techniques and basic organization skills to evaluate and identify issues that require escalation or alternatives, and use resourcefulness and creative thinking to develop recommended approaches to problems
Maintain in‐depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day‐to‐day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance
Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

QUALIFICATIONS:8-12 years of general human resources experience, with strong emphasis in compensation, employee relations, compensation and benefits, recruiting, and metrics/reporting. Multi-state experience in a media organization a plus

Strong knowledge of federal laws and regulations, as well as state and local laws for all NCM locations
A keen sense of judgment concerning when to consult with other members of HR team
Integrity, professionalism, and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding employee information
A strong interest in constant improvement and learning
Proficiency with standard office technologies, Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
Expertise with HRIS and a willingness to develop strong skills in UltiPro.
Flexibility with work assignments and hours; ability to travel as required.

Experience And Training

Any combination of the following experience and training (designated as required and/or preferred) that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Experience: 8-12 years of general human resources experience, with strong emphasis in employee relations, compensation and benefits, recruiting, and metrics/reporting. Multi-state experience is a plus

Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent blend of experience, education and certifications)

Licensure / Certification

HR certification preferred (ex: SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP), but not required

Work Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

The successful candidate will be expected to work in the NCM New York office 3 days/week on average
