Multimedia Editor and Producer

IRW is recruiting for the position of ‘Multimedia Editor & Producer’ to join its dynamic External Relations & Advocacy Division, to be based in either its London or Birmingham Offices. The organisation is currently working to a hybrid working model which involves 1-2 days in the office per week with the remainder working remotely in the UK.

The Multimedia Editor and Producer (MEP) will create high-quality, innovative video and multimedia content that tells Islamic Relief’s story on social media and broadcast/ online media. The MEP will work closely with Islamic Relief teams around the world to identify the most compelling audio-visual stories; produce, edit and commission content; and come up with creative ways to package this content for social media platforms, international broadcasters and news sites.

The MEP will increase Islamic Relief’s engagement with existing and new audiences by producing content that excites, inspires and drives conversation and supporter action. The post will produce video, photo projects, podcasts and other multimedia content to highlight the impact of our humanitarian and development programmes, grow our campaigns on issues such as women’s rights and climate change, amplify the voices and stories of people we work with, and rapidly communicate during emergencies.

The successful candidate must have or be:

• Extensive relevant professional experience, preferably with an NGO or significant media outlet(s)
• Excellent video production and editing skills, and knowledge of relevant editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
• Demonstrable experience of producing creative and compelling audio-visual content for social media, online news sites and international broadcasters
• Excellent skills in photography and/or other audio-visual content production
• Clear understanding of what makes a good story
• Creative ‘out of the box’ thinking, good imagination and innovative ideas
• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with a range of audiences, and to package complex information in a concise and compelling way
• Strong written and spoken English
• Strong knowledge of current trends in digital communications – especially different social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and how to adapt content for different platforms
• Ability to work proactively, take initiative and work independently while managing competing priorities
• Ability to deliver timely quality content to tight deadlines and during emergencies, and to stay calm under pressure
• Strong teamworking, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and ability to effectively communicate and build relations with colleagues around the world
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends when needed
• Willingness to travel to countries where Islamic Relief works, sometimes at short notice
