Tdh :

Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh), with headquarters in Lausanne and an office in Zurich, is the leading Swiss organisation for children’s aid. In 2021, we supported two million children and members of their communities around the world. We trained people who in turn supported a further 3.1 million children and members of their communities.

Context :

Tdh works in Palestine since 1973 and in Jordan since 2007, in both countries in close collaboration with recognized local partners and thanks to the funding of several international donors. Since end of 2018, based on contexts needs and global strategic decisions, both delegations have been gathered under one common entity, a Multi-Countries Delegation (MCD).

The main coordination office of the MCD is located in Amman (Jordan) and there are 2 sub-offices 1 in Jerusalem and 1 Gaza (Palestine) and an operational hub in the EJC camp in Jordan, in addition to several other areas of implementation through local partners. The MCD comprises around 50 employees and 30 volunteers and works with around 18 partners across both countries.

In both countries, Tdh implements a resilience-based approach aiming to strengthen the whole system for the benefit of refugee communities and vulnerable host communities. Thus, Tdh multisectoral models of action provide support to children, youth, family/caregiver and communities while working on capacity development of key local – formal and informal – actors. Over the decades, Tdh – one of the Child Protection leading agency in Jordan and Palestine – has developed specific expertise in Migration, Access to Justice (A2J) and Child Labour (CL) programs – via direct implementation and through local partners.

The position is based is based in Jordan with regular travels to operational sites where Tdh Jordan operates and – on average – every two months to Palestine both Gaza and West Bank.

Responsibilities :

  • Under the supervision of the Delegation Deputy to Operations, he/she ensures the roll-out of the program strategy in his/her field of expertise at the national level, and as such he/she is the guarantor of the national impact of Terre des hommes in his/her field of expertise.
  • He/She is in charge of developing and consolidating the program in his/her field in his/her assignment country.
  • He/She contributes to securing the required resources (financial and human) in the delegation with the support services involved.
  • He/She contributes to steering the program by implementing and following up indicators, especially concerning the cross-cutting themes of his/her field.
  • He/She develops and fosters innovation in the program in the country.
  • He/She supports the implementation of the insurance system and quality control for the projects of the program in the country.
  • He/She ensures the implementation of the management and sharing of knowledge of his/her program in the country.
  • He/She is in charge of running and developing the program‘s strategic partnerships in the Delegation.
  • He/She is responsible for and accountable to beneficiaries, collaborators and donors.
  • He/She ensures that teams and partners have learned the security policies and the general code of conduct and comply with them at all times.

Profile :

Education :

University (Master) degree in relevant field

Experience & Competencies :

  • Previous experience with an INGO is mandatory: in the field of Child Protection, Access to Justice and/or Migration is a strong asset.
  • At least 5 years in a programme coordination position.
  • Previous experience in the MENA region, especially Jordan and/or Palestine, would be an advantage.
  • Previous relevant experience and extensive knowledge of project design and experience in project development (strong knowledge and skills in M&E is especially important).
  • Strong experience in developing strategies as well as local partnerships.
  • Large experience of major institutional donors (UNOCHA; ECHO; SDC; AFD) and significant projects.
  • Experience undertaking field assessments; exploratory missions; baseline and endline survey.
  • Previous relevant experience and excellent competencies in human resources management and good managerial skills (local and expat teams).
  • Ability to travel to the MCD operational areas on a regular basis.

Languages :

Excellent oral and writing skills in English, Arabic is an asset.

IT know-how :

Mastery of usual Microsoft Tools

Salary :

Expatriate contract under Swiss regulations between CHF 5’500.- and CHF 6’000.- gross/month according to experience x 13 times, Vacancy: 25 days annual leaves local accommodation and transportation, Health insurance, accident and medical repatriation insurance, return flight.
