Mortgage Loan Officer

We’re looking for experienced, service-focused Mortgage Loan Officers to join our team. Our MLOs develop and maintain a quality network of business relationships that serves as a source of referrals for new mortgage opportunities. We also provide opportunities for you to engage with our existing member base through our Select Employer Groups (SEGs) like Nike, Intel, Microsoft, and many others. You will be responsible for interviewing new and existing members to determine their loan needs and advising those borrowers of appropriate products, terms, and pricing, while gathering any additional required information. This role requires accuracy and attention to detail when completing mortgage applications; ensuring appropriate procedures and policies are followed at all times while also meeting sales goals and objectives.

As a Mortgage Loan Officer Your Primarily Responsibilities Include

  • Primary Relationship Building focused activities such as:
    • Production/Custom Home Builders
    • Real Estate Agents/Firms
    • Key Industry Trade Associations
    • Business Associates/Partners
      • Financial Planners
      • Attorneys
      • Insurance Agents
      • Chamber of Commerce
    • Build relationships with internal FTFCU business partners such as assigned branch staff, underwriters, for the purpose of strengthening interdepartmental relationships and attracting new members
    • Originate complete and accurate loan applications, provide members with all required disclosures and obtain all necessary members provided support documents, including appropriate up-front fees
    • Achieve high cross-sell volumes, low point of sales returns and specific volume run rate over 12 months
    • Maintain up-to-date product and procedure knowledge and consult with members to ensure real estate products meet individual member needs
    • Act as primary contact for members during the entire loan process, obtaining required documentation including financial information to evaluate loan applications and their risk, providing ongoing member updates
    • Work directly with members to review agreements, explain loan programs, and negotiate mortgage loan terms
    • Maintain compliance within federal, state and credit union rules and regulations

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a mortgage sales position required, ideally, as a Mortgage Loan Officer or similar role
  • Proven skills and commitment in meeting or exceeding client expectations and requirements
  • Ability to foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to articulate complex concepts while tailoring the message to different audiences including clients, member support team, and senior leadership
  • Proven ability to professionally handle sensitive documents
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to work independently or in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to prioritize files in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and high-volume peaks while producing high-quality work
  • Working knowledge of banking regulations including Reg Z, Reg B, and RESPA
  • Working knowledge of mortgage options such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and/or FHA
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and loan operations software (Encompass preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Certification/License: NMLS registration
