Background

Legal Action Worldwide (LAW) is an independent, non-profit organisation comprised of human rights lawyers working in fragile and conflict affected areas in the Middle East, Africa, South and Southeast Asia. We have a particular focus on gender equality and sexual and gender-based violence, rule of law and accountability, transformative justice, and natural resource exploitation working to bring justice to those who need it most. LAW’s ground-breaking work has received international and local media coverage, and recognition.

In Myanmar is working to support accountability actions for Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) and other atrocity crimes in Myanmar, the capacities of civil society agencies to investigate CRSV crimes, and their advocacy initiatives.

Consultancy Description:
LAW is seeking a MEAL consultant to update of LAW’s MEAL Framework, development of MEAL tools for evaluating impact of LAW’s and partners’ activities.

Reports to: Programme Manager Location: Remote

Duration: Up to 19 working days April – May 2024.

Description of work / Responsibilities:
The key functions and responsibilities of the expert will be:

  • To review LAW’s MEAL framework and adapt it to the changes to implementation approach taken since the project inception. (3 working days).
  • To develop analytical tools to measure improvements in technical ability of individuals trained on various tools. (4 working days).
  • Review partner activity sets and in collaboration with their staff develop MEAL approach and tools in (12 working days for up to 4 partner organisations).

Required Skills, Qualification and Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experiences in implementing or evaluating International Accountability, Rule of Law, or human rights programmes;
  • Experience in developing and implementing MEAL frameworks and tools.
  • Experiences of working with national civil society organizations.
  • Experience working in an international or major national non-governmental organisations operating in complex environments, preferably in management and field positions.
  • Experience working with Myanmar human rights, conflict and humanitarian affairs is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong technical literacy.
