Impact Department:

The Impact Department at Internews sits within the Technical Leadership Unit and comprises three interdependent teams – Knowledge and Learning, Research, and Monitoring and Evaluation. Together they support Internews to achieve its goal of being the most effective and impactful organisation in the media support sector.

They do this by developing robust theories of change at program, portfolio and global level; gathering, analysing and reporting performance data; producing research and insight about the fast-moving information ecosystems in which we work; elevating the needs of the partners we support to aid program design, support thought leadership and influence policy; running evaluations which measure the effectiveness and impact of our work; and creating processes, products and platforms to support internal learning and drive engagement amongst staff, partners and external stakeholders. We work across the spectrum, placing a high value on day-to-day experiential learning as well as robust research produced with academic partners.

This role of Monitoring, Evaluation and Insights Officer sits within the Monitoring and Evaluation team and will collaborate across the department.

About the role:

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Insights Officer is a member of the global Impact Department and will be responsible for managing the organisation-wide rollout of Program Source, our impact database built in Salesforce. The M&E and Insights Officer will also be responsible for designing monitoring and evaluation activities for projects, including developing data collection tools and instruments for project teams. The applicant will have strong experience using qualitative and quantitative data analysis software and databases and is able to deliver high quality reporting of findings and insights in formats which meet the needs of stakeholders. Successful candidates will also have solid experience assuring the quality of data collection and analysis.

We are looking for natural collaborators with endless curiosity and energy, a drive for solving difficult problems, outstanding organisational and relationship management skills, and experience in a range of social science research methods. The candidate should have a strong understanding of M&E principles, an ability to work in database systems, and keen project management skills.

The role also includes working closely with distributed project teams to develop and budget monitoring and evaluation frameworks which are realistic, actionable and relevant at proposal stage, supporting projects to embed – and benefit from – these frameworks within their activities, and developing appropriate data collection, analysis and reporting methods.

The successful applicant will apply their understanding of the pressures experienced by project implementation teams to engage staff in database and monitoring activities to deliver data outputs which meets their needs and priorities. We are always seeking improvements in our impact measurement practice, and welcome applications from people committed to innovation and advancement. If you are talented, hard-working, collaborative and entrepreneurial, we encourage your application.
