About Voluntās (Latin: will, goal, purpose, meaning)

Voluntās specializes in providing meaningful research and monitoring and evaluation services in developing countries, conflict zones, fragile states, and transitional environments. We use our insights to inform fact-based recommendations and policy options grounded in extensive research and data collection. Our goal is to have a positive, sustainable impact on populations affected by crisis to improve their living standards and access to rights.

To-date, Voluntas has implemented over 125 projects in volatile regions with partners including UN agencies, the EU, USAID, and international NGOs. We have a presence in nine countries, with ongoing projects in East and North Africa, the Middle East, and Ukraine. Our projects focus on policy and programming, needs assessments, perception studies, contextual analysis, and monitoring and evaluation. We work on thematic areas such as the environment and climate change, conflict resolution, employment, food security, gender, governance, human rights, migration, political economy, prevention of violent extremism, public health, WASH, and youth.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated individual to support our monitoring and evaluation projects as an associate in Kyiv. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years’ experience working on monitoring and evaluation and/or research projects for an international organization, research institute, consultancy, or university.

Your Responsibilities

  • Managing projects in close collaboration with Voluntas colleagues and external partners
  • Participating in methodology design (including scoping, sampling, instrument development, and analytical frameworks)
  • Leading log frame reviews, monitoring activities, research, analysis, and reporting
  • Drafting and presenting clear policy and/or program recommendations for high-level clients
  • Acting as a focal point with our local partners and key stakeholders
  • Supporting business development
  • Supporting and mentoring junior staff based across different offices

  • Excellent written and spoken English and Ukrainian
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Masters in economics, political science, sociology, international development, law, or relevant field

Advantage:

  • Proven experience in leading monitoring and evaluation activities as part of larger bi- and multilateral donor programs
  • Demonstrated experience with data management and/or statistical analysis software (SPSS, STATA, or R)
  • Knowledge of research methods for social science (sampling, weighting, data cleaning and management, descriptive statistics, inference analysis)
  • Familiarity with data visualization (Excel, Tableau, or PowerBI)
