ABOUT MEDGLOBAL
MedGlobal was founded in June 2017 by physicians who are experienced in humanitarian medicine to address the health needs of the most vulnerable across the world. MedGlobal is an international medical non-profit organization providing health services to people in need, including refugees and displaced persons, in disaster and underserved regions. The organization is composed of medical and public health volunteers of diverse backgrounds.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION
M&E is a key aspect of the MedGlobal program to help collect and analyze data. This enables the program team to make informed decisions on the interventions put in place. It is also meant to improve the quality of the reports prepared and the informed decision made. As an internal quality assurance mechanism by MedGlobal, it is prudent to continually give improvement feedback on the reports shared. He/she will assist with the strengthening of MedGlobal health work and comprehensive humanitarian policies related to our countries of operations in Bangladesh, Colombia, Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
SCOPE
The role of the M&E intern will be mainly in data management and assisting the M&E manager in setting M&E standards across the countries where MedGlobal is implementing its projects. This will include but is not limited to collection, cleaning, analysis, and management of the project database and assist in database management. The engagement will be on a 3 months contract and it is expected that after this engagement the intern will gain practical experience within a health setting in the humanitarian setup.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist M&E manager with data review and analysis
- Enter data into project databases accurately, and according to the M&E work plan within deadlines
- Perform rigorous project data cleaning and field-level error reconciliations (Data Quality checks), jointly with the program team to ensure that the data sitting in the program database is of integrity
- Perform data quality checks on a regular schedule and under the guidance of the M&E Manager
- Assist in preliminary data analysis and presentation of M&E briefs for sharing with the project team and partners
- Assist in compiling data to contribute towards strategic decision-making, Knowledge management, sharing best practices, and program planning with the program team in a timely fashion
- Update the groups progress mapping sheet to determine the support level required
QUALIFICATIONS
- An undergraduate qualification in the field of social science, statistics, economics, or any other relevant academic discipline. Detail-oriented, procedural in workflow, aptitude for accuracy
- Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and in either at least one statistical package (SPSS, STATA, or R)
- Experience in drafting reports, the executive summary is preferred
- Ability to achieve results while working independently
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
- Proficiency in English is a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT Please note that this intern position is unpaid and fully remote. We are requesting the following availability: • For summer intern (6+ weeks in July, August, and/or September) o 15+ hours per week (e.g. 3 hours per day, 5 days per week) • For fall, winter, and/or spring intern (12+ weeks beginning September or later) o 10+ hours per week
