The Role:

Scientist with a strong emphasis in bioanalytical mass spectrometry, including processing and analysis of biomolecules such as proteins/peptides, lipids, glycans, mRNA, etc. This role will primarily support our Clinical Development division, as well as colleagues in Platform and other cross-functional groups, by applying cutting-edge LC/MS techniques towards mechanistic and quantitative assessment of Moderna’s mRNA therapies. The candidate must thrive in a fast pace environment with high expectations. Integrity, ability to share experimental issues and troubleshoot, curiosity, collaborative spirit, respect for people, exemplary work ethic and setting the bar high are key values to thrive in our Team.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Coordinate with external CROs on method development, qualifications, and validations; review and approval SOWs, protocols, and reports
Support nonclinical in vivo studies to evaluate PK/TK, safety, and efficacy of our drug candidates
Work closely with colleagues in Clinical Development as well as cross-functional groups
Provide mass spectrometry support to scientists in Clinical Development, Platform, and other groups
Assist in writing regulatory submissions and in responding to regulatory queries when needed.
Stay abreast of literature, government guidelines, internal guidance on clinical trial conduct including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), internal SOPs and regulations and White Papers, as appropriate, for pre-clinical and clinical bioanalysis to ensure practices are consistent with regulatory expectations
Limited travel for vendor audits and training

About Moderna

In over 10 years since its inception, Moderna has transformed from a research-stage company advancing programs in the field of messenger RNA (mRNA), to an enterprise with a diverse clinical portfolio of vaccines and therapeutics across seven modalities, a broad intellectual property portfolio in areas including mRNA and lipid nanoparticle formulation, and an integrated manufacturing plant that allows for rapid clinical and commercial production at scale. Moderna maintains alliances with a broad range of domestic and overseas government and commercial collaborators, which has allowed for the pursuit of both groundbreaking science and rapid scaling of manufacturing. Most recently, Moderna’s capabilities have come together to allow the authorized use and approval of one of the earliest and most effective vaccines against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Moderna’s mRNA platform builds on continuous advances in basic and applied mRNA science, delivery technology and manufacturing, and has allowed the development of therapeutics and vaccines for infectious diseases, immuno-oncology, rare diseases, cardiovascular diseases and autoimmune diseases. Moderna has been named a top biopharmaceutical employer by Science for the past seven years. To learn more, visit www.modernatx.com .
