MIYCN Officer (National Contract)

The MIYCN Officer with be responsible for coordinating all the MIYCN activities such as one on one counselling , group counselling, food demonstrations as well as the formation and maintenance of the M2MSGs. S/he ensures that all nutrition and health staff understand and implement the MIYCN program guidelines. The Job Holder will also ensure appropriate and consistent education messaging to mothers/caregivers (at PHC, on exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, maternal nutrition and best hygiene practises, that with time they will be able to adopt. Additionally, the Job Holder will develop MIYCN work plan and effectively follow up on implementation of the activities, collect and analyse data, provide feedback to the CNVs at the community level. S/he will also support in establishment of baby friendly space areas at the nutrition sites and as well at community level, support mothers/caregivers in creating a conducive environment for children to play and making of local playing toys and materials that are acceptable and do not cause any harm to the children.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Inorder to be successful, you will bring / have:

  • Midwife/Registered Midwife with minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Knowledge on MIYCN/ Nutrition.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and coordination skills.
  • Proven reporting and writing skills.
  • Experience in team management including capacity building and supervision
  • Fluency in English with good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively. Communication skills ( written, oral and cross cultural, with communities)
  • Fluent in English, local language to the location you are applying for will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working with the local communities.
  • Arabic or other local language a huge advantage.

Contract Duration: 5 Months

Location: Bor-Payams: Kolnyang ( Bangachorot,Abii Area,Pariak, Agorbaar,Malek & Panpandiar),Bor Town ( Bor EX POC,Malou,Bor Hospital), Makuach ( Langbaar & Lualdit),Baidit(PagokPHCU& Baidit) Jelle ( Akuai-Deng/Kondai).
