Title: Mineral Processing and Controls Co-op student

Position Summary

Hatch is seeking a co-op student in the Mineral Processing discipline of Metals Group for the work term beginning January 2023 or earlier, if available. Reporting to the Senior Process Consultant you will support projects focusing in Saskatchewan, and globally.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively to apply engineering principles to perform calculations for Process design and optimization.
• Work to contribute to the development of high-fidelity dynamic process models via simulation software.
• Work to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and / or other Hatch groups.
• Support the Process team on a variety of engagements through preparation of core Process deliverables and reports.

Education And Experience

• Must be enrolled in Chemical Engineering, Chemical Technology, Mineral Processing, Process Controls Engineering or Technology program at an accredited university or institute.
• Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
• Preferred academic courses include Process Control, Mineral Processing, and Thermodynamics.
• Previous relevant coop and summer work terms or internships in Process or Controls engineering is an asset.
• Academic or work experience with Process software IDEAS, SysCAD, METSIM, HYSYS is an asset.

Competencies: (knowledge, skill, attributes):

• Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects
• Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges
• Strong computer skills such as Excel, VBA/Python/Java, or other programming languages are an asset
• Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients’ toughest challenges
• Adapts and embraces change
