MdM currently works in 30 countries across all continents where it focuses on 5 priority areas: emergency and crisis, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, migrants and displaced populations (health rights), health and environment.

Yemen is currently facing a complex humanitarian crisis, as the conflict has exacerbated existing chronic vulnerabilities. Consequently, Yemen is considered as one of the worst humanitarian crisis with:

  • 20 million of people are in need of aid in Yemen, including 11.3 million in urgent need of humanitarian relief,
  • 14 million of people do not have access to health services and 17 million are food insecure.

Currently, MdM intervene in the Northern and Southern parts of Yemen in the governorates of Sanaa, Amanat Alasima, Ibb, Lahj and Abyan. MdM strategy is based on 2 key axes:

  • To provide primary healthcare services, including OPD, vaccination, nutritional care, reproductive health. 16 health facilities are directly supported.
  • To provide mental healthcare and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in specific healthcare facilities and via a network of CHVs trained in detection and community awareness-raising

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the supervision of the medical coordinator, you are in charge of the design, implementation, follow-up, and supervision of the different Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) strategies & activities in Yemen in coordination with the MdM team, and partners (INGO-like Yemen Women Union, NGO, health authorities, etc.).

MHPSS program management

  • Ensure achievement of MHPSS strategic plans and donors program targets according to the needs, MdM policies, national, international standards, and available funds
  • Ensure a proper design of MHPSS program activities in all MdM areas of intervention in Yemen according to updated field assessments and actors mapping
  • Validate and ensure implementation of the MHPSS operational action plan prepared by MHPSS supervisors in collaboration with coordination team
  • Supervise the development and implementation of evaluation systems; supervise and monitor data collection processes and analyse MHPSS data on a regular basis and set up corrective measures in case of need
  • Create and adapt data collection tools with MedCo & MEALco and ensure data protection during management of cases by MdM team or during referral to another partner
  • Ensure that the MHPSS program reacts to any change by adapting if necessary (outbreaks, new needs arising, opening of new programs, influx of IDPs, etc.)
  • Ensure integration of MHPSS component of the program in MdM medical country program and PHC activities
  • Ensure MHPSS program budget is consumed according to plan by close coordination with the finance department
  • Ensure that high-quality MHPSS and GBV services are integrated by connecting survivors to YWU for additional services (empowerment, shelter, and legal).

Capacity building and technical support

  • Participate to the recruitment of the staff under his/her technical responsibility
  • Provide technical inputs/support to MHPSS supervisors (including individual chronogram of plan of action with objectives and indicators) and participate to their annual appraisal
  • Develop appropriate training objectives, planning, contents and didactic materials for MdM and non-MdM personnel
  • Train MdM national staff on MHPSS issues
  • Conduct theoretical and on the job training for MdM health facilities supervision teams
  • Sensitize the medical staff of the supported health facilities to psychological and psychosocial issues
  • Train the relevant staff on the referral system and the reporting tools
  • Train new staff, provide guidelines and tools when a new recruitment takes place

Coordination and reporting

  • Coordinate with the medical coordinator and field coordinators for involvement of medical supervisors in the follow-up of MHPSS activities
  • Collect data from the different bases and provide an analysis
  • Contribute to donor and internal reporting
  • Propose adaptations regarding the program if needed
  • Participate to coordination meetings
  • Represent MdM in relevant external meetings including but not limited to MH clusters and working groups
  • Participate to any assessment needed to develop MdM program and MH activities

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Status : Employee Contract : Fixed-term contract
Duration : 6 months

Starting date: as soon as possible
Gross monthly salary: 2 940 euros
Premium equal to one month salary paid in two instalments – minimum of 6 months seniority required
Expatriation bonus (10% gross salary per month)
Transportation cost, vaccines and visas covered
Guesthouse housing
22.5 RTT (recovery days) per year
5 weeks of paid leaves per year
Health insurance (60% covered by MdM and 40% by the employee)
Insurance (repatriation…)
Teleworking agreement for positions eligible to telework: 110 days/year (2.5 days teleworking on average per week) with a minimum of 1 day per week onsite

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Degree in clinical Psychologist or master’s (is an asset)
Experience work in MHPSS programs in humanitarian emergencies/contexts with both individual counseling and Psycho-Social Support activities
Experience to build up local partnerships
Knowledge of public health issues
Good training abilities
Capacity to create relationships with the communities
Ability to create tools and monitoring process
Previous supervisory and management experience
Excellent knowledge of Windows environment (word, excel)
Languages : English is mandatory (oral and written), and Arabic is an asset.
