Our office is located in Dublin 2 and we are currently working a hybrid model (50% remote working) and offer flexi time.

Job location: Dublin or locations where Concern has an office (except UK). If applying from another Concern operational country, pay scale will be benchmarked for that country. For Dublin, the salary belongs to [grade 5 (€51,402- €60,472 per annum)]. Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Ireland or any other Concern operational country at the time of application.

The job: The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Advisoris a newly created strategic role within the Health Support Unit. This role will have a global remit and will deal with all Concern Worldwide staff. The majority of the role will involve organising and delivering wellbeing supports and training for all staff groups across Concern. A passion for providing mental health support, along with an ability to identify the exact support needed is key for this role. In addition to providing mental health and psychosocial support, a small percentage of this role will be involved in providing day-to-day support alongside staff occupational health officers.

This role is very collaborative, necessarily liaising with Head Office colleagues, external providers, senior management, trainers, consultants and overseas fields.

In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for establishing professional external support systems for staff where a strong knowledge and ability to identify and source mental health support providers is required.

This is an exciting opportunity for a mental health professional to develop new methods of support and improve on existing procedures already in place in Concern Worldwide.

If you join us, this is what you will be doing:

  • Provision of trauma informed support to events within the organisation by identifying and organising the relevant mental health support needed for individuals and travelling to the location as required;
  • Providing individual and small group support and signposting in cases of trauma, incident or stress related illness;
  • Liaise with current service providers;
  • Organize and facilitate remote and face to face training for staff in the areas of mental health, trauma informed support and wellbeing in our countries of operation;
  • Source external mental health and psychosocial resources and providers in our countries of operation;
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through the compilation of reports and after action learnings to improve on Concern’s responses to stress, trauma and critical incidents;
  • Act as a key contributor in the development of an organizational mental health strategy and implementation plan;
  • As part of the Health Unit, identify and develop appropriate psychological supports for various groups of staff across the organization;
  • Keep up to date with current relevant research in the area of mental health and wellbeing, ensuring that this learning is shared within the team and is reflected in our work;
  • Recommend and adopt new ways of working, creating policy documents where necessary for the organisation;
  • Develop networks within the sector in the area of mental health provision and support;
  • Accept, advance and pursue any new objectives or responsibilities that may be assigned by the Senior Health Advisor;
  • Undertake specific projects as required;
  • Assist the staff occupational health officers on a limited but regular basis;
  • Provide cover for the Concern Emergency phone on a rota basis;
  • At all times act within your scope of professional practice;
  • Manage and maintain staff files;
  • Any other duties as required.

Skills you will bring:

Essential:

  • Qualification in psychology or counselling or mental health;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mental health and wellbeing arena;
  • Experience delivering and coordinating wellbeing programmes and/ or trauma support;
  • Experience in policy or report writing;
  • Group facilitation and training skills.
  • Oral and written French language skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the sector overseas.

You will report to the Senior Health Advisor and work with Members of the Health Unit, HR, Overseas Staff, Dublin Staff.

Contract: Full-time or Part-time (pro rata), 2 year fixed term contract.

Location of the job:

  • This position involves up to 20% overseas travel.
