Member Relations Manager 

MassCPAs is seeking a motivated and hands-on membership professional to join our energetic team. The Member Relations Manager reports to and works closely with the Sr. Manager of Member Engagement in developing and implementing engagement programs and activities that drive member recruitment and retention (including committees, roundtables and networking events). The Member Relations Manager collaborates with both the Membership Department and Academic and Career Development Department to represent MassCPAs at events (virtual and in-person), recruit member volunteers and speakers and encourage members to get involved in MassCPAs. The Member Relations Manager must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with other staff members and working with volunteers.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

Manages the Young Professional Program   

  • Bridges the gap between graduated student members and young professional members. Increases membership numbers within this demographic. 
  • Serves as the liaison to the Young Professional Advisory Group – coordinates and plans all meetings with the chair.   
  • Responsible for engaging young professional members and encourages them to join the Advisory Group and get involved.   
  • Responsible for planning and attending all Young Professional networking and roundtable events (virtual and in person). Work with marketing team to develop a marketing plan to promote events. 

Manages the Women in Accounting Program 

  • Serves as the liaison to the Women in Accounting Committee – coordinates and plans all meetings with the chair. 
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating Women’s Mentor Circles and women-focused networking opportunities. 
  • Assist with the Annual Women to Watch Awards program.  

 

Assists with the Firm Ambassador Program. Provides support when needed and attends Ambassador meetings and events. Helps recruit Ambassadors through young professional involvement.   

 

Assists with planning/developing MassCPAs’ portfolio of committees and roundtables, manages volunteer leaders, schedules meetings for approximately 10 groups. Attends various in-person and virtual meetings. 

 

Participates in membership webinars such as Get Involved Webinar and New Member Webinar.

Represents MassCPAs at membership events and firm/company visits (in person and virtual). 

Works with Academic and Career Development team to recruit and train mentors for Mentor Match program.   

Serves as internal point of contact for membership team with other departments within the Society. Responsible for including event and meeting announcements in promotions and emails. Responsible for submitting content for member magazine and member features.

Skills and Experience 

 

Bachelor’s degree required  

 

Three or more years of experience with volunteer management, membership or association management preferred. Familiar with the accounting industry a plus. 

 

Energetic, positive, professional and self-motivated personality.  

 

Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision. 

 

Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with both internal and external key stakeholders.  

 

Must have a team-based approach and ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve goals.  

 

Strong customer service skills.  

 

Experience and ease with public speaking to a variety of audiences.  

 

Strong time management, prioritization and project management skills. 

 

Access to reliable independent, private transportation to attend events.
