Emergency - Life Support for Civilian War Victims

EMERGENCY is an independent and neutral international organisation founded in 1994 to provide free, high-quality medical and surgical care to victims of war, landmines and poverty. Our organization promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights.

In Sudan we run the paediatric clinics in Nyala and Port Sudan, and in Khartoum we run the Salam Centre for Cardiac surgery.
For our paediatric clinic in Port Sudan we are looking for medical officers to strenghten our team and provide a continuous and reliable healthcare service.

Their duties will include:

  • Diagnosing and treating illnesses, medical conditions, and injuries.
  • Ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests.
  • Collecting, recording, and maintaining patients’ information and histories.
  • Provide medical care in compliance with national regulation, golden standards and organization policies, this entails the prescription of treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and the first hand administration when required.
  • The disclosure and explanation of procedures, test results, diagnosis, therapeutical plans, prescribed treatments to family members and other caregivers of the patient.
  • Monitoring patients’ conditions and progress ensuring a coherent follow-up.
  • Directing, coordinating, consulting with, and referring patients to, the medical staff.
  • Timely recommending and refering patients to other structures or specialist when appropriate or needed to ensure patient safety.
  • Advising patients, parents, and guardians on diets, activities, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Supporting the organization in ensuring the professional growth of members of the medical staff sharing their knowledge on up-to-date trends, discoveries, and developments in the field.
  • Ensuring all procedures and activities are supported by the requested documental evidence in compliance with national regulations and organization policies.
  • Collecting relevant data to monitor the activities and services provided.
