Salary: £57,912.39 per annum (£54,412.39 p.a. non-London weighting)

MANSON UNIT (MU)

The MU is a multi-disciplinary medical team within MSF UK and is the London based part of the PHD. We aim to improve the quality of MSF’s medical programmes worldwide, so the best possible care is delivered to our patients.

The MU is a team of 30 comprised of medical doctors and specialists in infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, health information systems, epidemiology, geographical information systems, medical editing and research communication. We also have a clinical trial team working towards improved treatments for patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis. We provide direct support to our field programmes through specialist advice on medical issues, implementing new ways of working, supporting research studies and outbreak response.

JOB PURPOSE

To provide strategic leadership and management on Medical Learning and Workforce Development vision, strategy and policy development and oversee development and delivery of GHHM strategic plan in line with MSFUK/IEs principles for the course.

Advise on LEAP strategic plan in line with MSF UK/IEs principles for the course and MSF UK/IE senior management on embedding MSF UK/IEs approach to Medical Learning and Workforce Development to the wider organisation, overseeing risk mitigation plan for GHHM to the GHHM Steering and Committee.

To explore academic partnership opportunities in countries where MSF works.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Prior work experience leading medical/public health projects with MSF or equivalent.
  • Prior experience managing training courses within cross cultural settings.
  • Proven experience of working in humanitarian settings.
  • Demonstrable medical leadership and strategic overview.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of medical issues and challenges in MSF / similar fields.
  • Excellent strategic planning and management skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with high profile stakeholders in professional manner and in accordance with MSF principles.
  • Proven strategic and analytical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Proven networking and representation skills.
  • Fluent English language abilities.
