ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Internews is seeking a Media Training and Capacity Building Manager for a USAID-funded media support and civil society initiative with the general goal of further strengthening independent media and civil society in Jordan. The Capacity Building Manager will be responsible for managing the training, learning, and capacity building activities which include planning, scheduling, and facilitating the delivery of professional development, support, evaluation, and resources to local media partners.

LOGISTICS

Internews has field offices in Jordan. Ultimately, this role will be based in Amman, Jordan.

Wherever possible, we work to try to find solutions for international hiring that work for both the company and the candidate. This is a term position with an expected end date in 2027.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include

  • Lead the development and implementation of the project’s overall capacity development strategy to strengthen the technical and organizational capacity of local media partners.
  • Develop a capacity-building project plan with the support of the Media Team Lead.
  • Co-design the capacity-building program with the other teams concerning the content, formats, target groups, delivery channels, and the selection of trainers, consultants, and other professional services providers.
  • Manage and oversee the implementation, design, and delivery of all capacity-building activities.
  • Work closely with the capacity-building consultants to deliver training and assistance packages for media partners.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of the external professional service providers involved in the capacity-building sub-programs and services.
  • Document all the activities related to the capacity-building program, collect data and information and oversee the content to be used in online publications.
  • Develop/research methodologies and tools coming out of the capacity-building program.
  • Work in collaboration with the team to brand and market the different initiatives, events, training courses, etc.
  • Monitor the costs of activities in collaboration with the Director of Finance.
  • Contribute to project internal, and external reports and success stories in close collaboration with the Media Team Lead and Internews’ headquarters staff.
  • Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure project success;

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Required

  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written);
  • Native-level fluency in Arabic (spoken and written);
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required;
  • At least 7 years of related experience working in capacity building and project management, with strong knowledge of international donor requirements;
  • Previous work with media development organizations and knowledge of USAID regulations and requirements;
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in teams and in a collaborative environment;
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and flexible work style;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office software;
  • Appreciation of and ability to work effectively in diverse work environments;
  • Training of the trainer experience; preferably with local media platforms and/or NGOs.
  • Experience in leading implementation of a technical program activity under a donor-funded program.

Preferred

  • Ability to multitask is highly desired;
  • Prior experience working with women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) is preferred.
  • Certificates in digital marketing and digital media are preferred;
