About The CWGC And CWGF

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) honours and cares for the people of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars, ensuring they will never be forgotten. Today, over a century after we first began, our work continues through our staff, supporters and volunteers who preserve our unique cultural, horticultural and architectural heritage, ensuring the stories of those who died are told.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation, (CWGF), is the charitable arm of the CWGC, highlighting the work of the CWGC by engaging people, especially the young, raising funds to deliver a diverse range of projects, events and public engagement programmes which tell the inspiring stories of the people who died across the globe while fighting in the two World Wars and by showcasing the history and work of the CWGC today.

About This Role And You

We are looking for a creative and passionate media professional who is highly skilled and proficient at crafting and developing innovative approaches to telling stories across multiple channels.

In this fast paced and diverse role, you join our in-house media team, working closely with our Marketing, Communications and Digital teams to support the development and delivery of tactical communications campaigns, by pitching to journalists, handling press enquiries and assisting to deliver digital content. You may be writing press releases or compiling press briefings one day or organising and representing our Organisation at external events the next.

By implementing external PR communications strategies and creating effective and engaging PR campaigns that speak to the public, your role will be key to raising our brand awareness and increasing our public profile through sustained and positive media coverage across the globe.

To be successful in this role you will need to liaise with member governments, local, national, and international media, and external PR agencies, so prior experience working with this groups of people will be beneficial.

You should have experience in a similar media and PR role and be accomplished at delivering, measuring and evaluating campaign success. Verbal articulation, together with a natural flair for creative writing and editing, combined with excellent time and project management skills will enable you to flourish in this role.

In addition, we are looking for applicants who share our Values of Respect, Excellence, Teamwork, Communication, Professionalism and Commitment.

You Will Be Able To Demonstrate

  • An ability to identify, craft and develop new and positive approaches to telling stories of our work and mission across multiple channels
  • Acute awareness of situations and have a feel for seeing a story before it happens
  • Ability to pre-empt problems and respond to them in a proactive and analytical manner, with speed and sensitivity
  • A strong understanding of digital and social media communications

What We Offer

  • A generous holiday allocation, with 25 days annual leave, rising by 1 day per year up to a maximum of 30
  • Paid public holidays
  • Paid office closure between Christmas and New Year
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Generous Pension Scheme, with CWGC contributing up to 15%
  • Up to six times salary Life Assurance cover
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • We offer piece of mind for our employees travelling on business via International SOS
