The Role:
Medcan is currently recruiting for a Medical Records Assistant for the Patient Support Centre team in a casual position. The ideal candidate is an experienced Medical Records professional who possesses excellent written and verbal communication and has an appreciation for attention to detail. Exceptional administrative back-office support to physicians and Patient Support Centre team colleagues. The role is well suited to candidates who have demonstrated the ability to thrive in a changing environment and have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams. This role allows for the possibility of work on weekends if the need should arise. The role reports to the Manager, Medical Records.
The Accountabilities:
Pull Annual Health Assessment and specialty charts and deliver to the clinic prior to appointments
Search and locate any missing/misfiled charts
Refile Annual Health Assessment and specialty charts to the file room
Order archived Annual Health Assessment and specialty charts for Physician and Patient Support Centre inquires
Manage incoming faxes and sending tasks to appropriate Patient Support Centre team members
Call facilities to obtain all referred diagnostic test and consultation client results
Scan, categorize and upload transferred records from other facilities
Scan and upload miscellaneous documents and consent forms from the clinic
Scan CPP and summary metrics into Accuro for Physicians
Sort and distribute incoming mail
Scan and upload results not automatically received by fax in Accuro
Manage and task all incoming faxes to appropriate Patient Support Centre team members
Train and support coverage for Radiology administrative tasks and requests
The Requirements:
Minimum 2 years Medical Office experience
Health Records Diploma and/or Medical Office Administration diploma
Excellent written, verbal and electronic communication skills
Proficient in MS word, Excel and Outlook
Knowledge of medical terminology
The position will be hybrid of onsite and remote work requirements
This is a part-time position that is scheduled primarily during business hours as-needed Monday through Saturday. The position will have a hybrid work set-up with opportunity to work from home and in the office.
