The Opportunity

The MEAL Data Analyst will support the data and analytical requirements of Waliku for report generations and visualization needs, and to better predictions of risks for individual students, classes, schools and communities.

The position holder will be a member of the Waliku global team. S/he will play a key role in Waliku’s metrics and data science development for the well-being of school-age children around the world. S/he will oversee the entire data management of Waliku implementation sites, working closely with the Waliku management team as well as the country/ project clients to meet requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Managing Waliku’s master database of indicators and metrics

    • for multiple use-cases, existing and prospective country/ project clients and for management/ donor/ investor reporting. Additionally, the indicators will support Waliku’s public reporting on global, local and national trends to children’s wellbeing. The metrics are related, but not limited to sectors of education, child health, wellbeing, child labor, sustainable development goals, national and local targets.
  2. Data management

    • Supporting country counterparts with their digital monitoring and evaluation (M&E) requirements. This includes the entire lifecycle of monitoring and evaluation plan development, ethics, data collection tools selection and development, cleaning, review, transformations, and analyses.
    • Dashboard development and enhancement – Improving existing dashboards and developing new dashboards for new users/ contexts, working closely with the Waliku team, country counterparts and designers/engineers.
    • Managing the software tools and filing system for the data management elements of Waliku for its multiple needs.
  3. Contributing to Waliku’s research agenda

    • Working with research partners and Waliku team members to align ongoing data analysis with long-term impact evaluation and technology research
    • Working with the Waliku team and additional data science consultants to strategize and create the data plan for Waliku, ultimately answering the following questions:
      • What are the data requirements to integrate with government and open-source MIS solutions?
      • What are the data needs for the various use cases?
      • What are the data model requirements for creating a digital registry for student wellbeing and school progression?
      • How can emerging technologies (ML/ AI) be used for better predictions on individual student and school-wide risk factors?
      • What improvements and efficiencies are needed in the database architecture?
